Hi guys,

Planning to upgrade my 2 year old T-Rex 500. I got the Hyperion G3 3300mAh 6s battery on it with stock ESC and motor and all I can say is wow .

But now that I tasted pure power from those batteries, I got hungry for more.

I want your opinion on the best combo for this bird. I know the Scorpion HK-3026-1400 with a 14 or 15 tooth pinion is hot and drains batteries fast. But, what do you guys think is the best ESC out to work with a motor like that.

I was thinking about the Scorpion 6-cell 90 Amp ESC with Switching BEC,or Phoenix Ice 75 ESC, any suggestions?

Also, if I upgrade the ESC should I stay with the internal BEC, or should I go external with something like the SportBEC Switch-mode BEC from Dimension Engineering?

Please advise and pour some wisdom. Thanks.

I don't think anyone is having problems running the CC 50amp ICE with internal BEC.

Is 50Amp CC Ice enough though, the Align is 60 Amps, I would think something in the 70 or 90 Amp category would be more sufficient for a 1400 KV motor that draws 80 Amps. Yes?

I'm running a CC Vertigo motor and ICE 100SB esc in my T-Rex 500FBL. Very good power and the combo run smooth and cool on a 13T pinion. That latest software for the CC esc's is a big improvment. No problems with running on the ICE's internal bec.

Well lets put it this way I can fly 4 min on a 3026-1400 13 tooth pinon and I have to drop my timer done to 3-3 1/2 min for the CC motor both with 45c Thunder Power 6s 2250 packs. If you are looking for the most power it is going go cost you flight time or MAH there is no if and or buts.. And yes there is a lot more power over the Scorpion 1400 kv motor

Trex 500

I have a flybarless 500 setup also...I have had great luck with the Neu 1905H/1.5y (16t) and a jazz 80 esc.

I spin about 2800 rpm's governed and I get almost 5 minutes(4:45) of 3D (hack stickbanging) from a 6s 2600mah hyperion...or 5 1/2 solid minutes from a 3000mah pack..

This motor maynot be the greatest power house out there but it runs cool and efficiently.

I have done up to 8 back to back flights with no thermal issues whatsoever.

I've never tried the Ice 100, but it sounds like it would be good.
The next option IMO is the Jive 80LV good to 6S. But if your going to spend that much money, maybe consider the HV in case you decide to get into the HV 10 or 12S 600's or the 90 sized E's...
