See page 97 "First Meeting" and you see the whole story. I'm interested to find out where those heli's went down yesterday.

Our field for the reasons I listed earlier up the list, no inquisitions and no accidents, just crashes

All the rocks in the field create weird little gravity fluctuations I think and when you fly you're heli gets pulled a little this way and that. Once the grass is in it will dampen the effect a lot.

I will say that flying OUT over the tall grass on the left certainly pads rough landings though, keep that in mind.

The technical reason for the "bad landing" of the little Ergo:
Heli got sideways at less than the necessary height to get un-sideways. Technical fix: install bigger engine to lessen the necessary height to get un-sideways.
Or not.

Water!

Just a reminder we need people to help water the seeds on the ground, if the seeds aren't wet we won't get any grass and it's no fun flying off the dirt. I'm back to work this week but might be able to drive down one evening before this weekend. Morning and Evening waterings every day are best, even if the dirt is wet, the grass seed needs to be wet too. One hot day and the soil gets dry as a rock.

It takes a 2-3 hours, but needs to be done to make this go well. Looking at the weather it looks like rain tomorrow morning and a possibility tomorrow evening and the rest of the week will be sunny and dry.

If you say you are going to do it and something comes up, post here with plenty of notice so someone else can take over. REALLY IMPORTANT.

If the grass still isn't doing well when I go down there Sat morning I hope a couple people will run with me to grab some hay and help spread it around the field. (Unless someone else says they have already done it before the weekend comes.)

I know it's just grass, but I've given up helicopters and need a runway for my planks

SAR is right. Everybody has to make an effort to water the field as much as possible. I would not spread hay without putting down more seed with a spreader first. The hay won't help if we don't water it!

I am sending the application to AMA as soon as I get an agreement from the owner. Until then we have NO INSURANCE so if you fly helis be careful. I would not use the seeded portion at all until the grass comes in.

Vito, I know you guys were trying to get me but I could not understand your phone # on either message. I am open most every day. Call 845 457-1000 before you come.

Regards,

Rob

Rob,
I disagree abou the "no insurance" thing. The owner has clearly given us permission to use his land (as seen in the field raking and planting). Individual members therefore should have the full benefit of their AMA excess liability insurance.
Any other insurance that is "valid and collectible", such as homeowners or renters liability that does respond to a claim, would still be primary under the AMA policy.
My opinion, only, of course.

Yes....perhaps YOU are insured but HE is not. Once the certificate is issued by AMA he is listed as additional insured. I don not know if your AMA will cover on a non sanctioned field.

ROB,
Trashed my R60 Sunday when a stupid ball link broke. I was going to stop by the store on my way south on Tuesday. When I didn't get a reply from you, I thought you left for the Fun-Fly I heard you talking about so I ordered my parts online. I feel so bad that I missed you. Please don't hate me. I promise I will get my parts from you on my next crash. Shouldn't be long.

Be careful and mindful of your flying anyways, this is not a major holdup or problem.
