I was out for a quickie Sunday. The field is looking kind of sad. So shaggy even with tall landing gear it was tough. Some digs and ruts in it too. We still have one picnic table and a heli landing pad. The saddest thing is the deafening silence of nobody flying. 404 pages since 2003, and still no actual club.

If anyone is wondering who was mowing the field last season, it was Ed the owner. I guess whenever he was doing his grounds he would hit the runway as well. That was nice of him, but his giant machines didn't really give the neat trim smaller models require, but at least the runway didn't deteriorate into a hayfield. I'm thinking he likes us, and I'm thinking if we put some effort into it we could get our AMA affiliation and maybe have a nice place for some years to come. Anybody out there interested?

Rick
Soon I'll be working a regular 8 hr job with weekends off I will have time to help make our field a regular club. This change will happen in a couple of weeks so I'll pm you along with Mike and Bob so we can put our heads together and come up with a plan. I'm sure others will be interested as well. Thanks for hanging in there!

I have been real busy with work and have not been to the field in a while but I would be interested in participating as a club member if/when you form a real club.

ama

we can't go ama because the sours already are, there one field is down the road. so ama won't make us a ama field because we are to close. we went threw this before remember hunting season we have to be on old chanels i know there is spektrum know but not everbody will use it. so i guess alot of people forgot. ama covers us for any damage to ed's property but won't make us a field. that is why we need to be still ama members.

If we have a signed written agreement with SOURs for frequency protection we can become AMA sanctioned. This shouldn't be a problem.

ama

hey rick rob already tried the ama turned us down. it will not be a field because a ama feild is too close. there by laws will not let fields be that close but we are protected with the insurance. that is why we need to be ama. the field works fine the way it is. why do you want it to be a ama field for, not like we can hold fun flys any way. ed would not like it. ed only did this for us few to have a place to fly. i don't think ed would want to have tons of people in and out all the time.

Actually, it's NOT the field that is AMA, it's the club. A group of guys who call themselves a club are not an AMA sanctioned club, even if all members are AMA members. But I am not beating my head against a wall. I think it would be nice if we were a formal club, but I joined 2 other clubs because this group seemed moribund, however, I still fly there, and am happy if there is any cohesive movement as a group.

Hi, I am going to be in LaGrangeville in May, are there any fields
near there, that I might be able to join in on some flying at?

Thanks

regarding AMA

I sent an email to the AMA asking simply if there was any problem becoming an AMA certified club near another AMA club. Provided there is a written agreement on frequency sharing submitted with the application, there is not. Copied below is the text from the email I received from Lois Mock of AMA.

It is not a problem as long as you submit the agreement with the charter

Man, fuel is thru the roof! I use 15%, and it looks like the cheapest is going to be about 32 dollars! OUCH! I used to get it thru Steve, I think, for 15 dollars a gallon by the case. I have been thinking about ordering quarts thru Tower (no hazmat surcharge for quarts). Still no bargain. Anybody got a good line on glow fuel??

Scorf,

I have a case of Power master 30 percent ( 4 gallons I can spare )
Bought a few cases the end of last summer. I paid $32 gallon before it started to go even higher and can pass it along if you are interested.
