It sure was rainy today, but we really needed it. It's been so dry that I'll bet the field sucks it up fast. I stayed in today. Cooked a mighty rad gumbo and fixed my ThunderQuake. I also did the radio/electronics installation on my ebay F22, which if the rain holds off will get its first flight (or funeral) tomorrow. See you there!

i am not going to go there tomorrow. i will wait until it dries out a little, i dont want to contribute to making the road or parking area a muddy mess.
maybe one day this week i will come up in the evening and do the weed wacking one last time, i think that will keep the weeds down until the spring.

Windy and nasty as it was today, I drove to the field to see if anyone was there, and of course, AL was there! He is hardcore!! LOL! I guess I must be too. I wasn't planning to fly anything, but I did happen to have my newly repaired Estes Scissor wing and my F22 electric with me ready to go. What can I say?

Anyway, AL had his Raptor 90 with a new motor, and after we flew my rocket 3 times we messed with that. It started and ran nicely, but there was some leakage issues. AL, did you get that whupped yet?

After that, the wind kind of sort of almost seemed to let up a bit and AL did the honors with my F22, and found it to be a good flyer. Can't beat that flat foam! LOL.
Rick

PS: the runway was fine. The surface, tho damp, was firm and puddle free. Likewise the driveway and parking area.

FREQUENCY CONFLICT

As we all know we voluntarily entered into a frquency agreement with the SAURS Club last year. The primary topic at their meeting last night was the fact that WE are NOT keeping our end of the bargain. Needless to say, I ATE A LOT OF **** today when they contacted me. My skin is thick and I smoothed things over (i hope)

No need to point fingers or beat this to death. We all know we made an agreement. We all know if we are in compliance or not. We all know it had to be done. They claim to have been hit. Regardless, WE ARE IN THE WRONG!

I hereby propose that anyone flying at our field on an even freq from here on be asked to leave the club and not use our field FOR GOOD. Opinions on my proposal are welcome. Emotional outbursts, finger pointing or excuses are not desired or required. Lets just fix it, make our apologies to SOURS and move forward. We have an awesome group, host and agreement. Lets not **** up our sweetheart deal.

Your favorite Lame Duck President

Rob

PS: Awesome funfly. Great Job to all who contributed.

Sounds good to me, I bit the bullet and invested in a new RF module and crystals last year. Like $70 or $80, compared to what the rest of this hobby costs, a drop in the bucket.

I guess I don't know you Bllade but the odd/even thing is pretty common knowledge. Your situation arises out of our lax club rules, lack of meetings etc. It is up to the group to self police. It would be good to tighten the organization up a bit but it never seems to work. Your odd anyway so its moot.

I guess I should chime in now. I have been lax as SAFTEY officer on this issue, Only because I had been informed that the SOURS club had lost their second field. (not true). I do accept responsibility for this ERROR. I have been aware of the even numbers at our field and chose not to enforce the frequency rule. ( my fault)
Rob you should give my phone # to the SOURS club as to open a line of communications to them. As you know I'm a very active flyer and at the field most weekends. And always available by phone.
I think this problem can be corrected without meetings or finger pointing! As you stated, WE made an agreement and WE should honor our half.

I agree!

If anyone can't afford a frequency change please contact me. I will be more than happy to help out.

I was under the impression that the near SOURS field had been put off limits by the town. This was wrong. Mea culpa. However, since learning of my error, my models have all been odded out, with the exception of 2 am transmitters (a hitec and a hobbico. Does anyone have crystals for these?), so I will either convert them or not fly them at our field. While we are on the subject, what about the 27mghtz band? My T'hawk uses that. I heard from an AMA dvd that there was no problem with that.

i really feel this is the time to come up with a frequency board, this way we all know who is flying on what channel. there are times that there are a lot of people up there and although it is nice to have good comunication and tell everyone what channel you are on things can go wrong when there is a big croud.
my example and remember it is only an example is what i saw at the field my company has behind our plant in indiana. it would be a board with all odd frequency listed on it, they use cloths pins with everyones name on the clothes pin when you come to the field you put your pin over the number frequency you are using.
i do not see the reason not to do something. Rob and everyone else could you give your thoughts.

I think it's more of a problem of us effecting other flyers at the SOURS field. They are on EVEN channels we agreed to fly on ODD! It's a simple solution. Follow the rules that was agreed upon by both clubs. In this case a board wouldn't help. No one is at fault here I was aware of what was going on and choose not to stop it. So this falls on my shoulders alone. Lets all just follow our own rules.

A frequency board is worse than open communication if people choose not to use it properly, or 'forget' or whatever. People assume that the frequency board is accurate and get complacent. With vocal communication thats not much of a problem. No meek and meager squeaks of the channel, belt it out.
