Bearings
I dont know how much y'all read about the bearings that are sold by our favorite hobby suppliers, but you'll be amazed first at the mark-up. Many of the bearings we use are from other industries, and are not purpose designed for RC, but are implimented for our use. Boca bearings, and some other companies buy thier bearings wholesale from VXB Bearings or other manufactureres. The mark-up is over 400%. You can buy an entire pack of (10) raptor tail rotor bearings for the price that HeliProz charges for (4).

The other thing (Al I know you know this but the others may not) is the surround (rubber, metal, etc) is as importaint as the average operating speed. The bearings being used in the OS 50 are probably sub-standard for the intended purpose, due to cost, and I say that because of the fact that they leak (due to a poor souround) and are rated at a lower operating rpm, thus causing then to "fry". The after-market bearings you find from VXB are rated for 100,000 rpm's or more.

I still read and learn as I freeze my ass off waiting for spring. I dont know how dedicated I am about flying in the snow as I did last winter. I remember having the ever lowering minimum temperature to fly and it turned out that I was as crazy as the rest of you.

I am electrifying the CUB and maybe the Stick. Hacker has some kick as motors out and the price of batteries has come down. Although I will miss the YS's, I wont miss the fuel mess.

Al, there is a fella that drag races here on RR. He fashioned a YS 91 Comp into a R50 and there is a video of it somewhere, I just cant find the link. But imagine the power. The owner owns his own machine shop if I recall and made his frame from carbon.

NICE!

Drag
I have also read about the fellas implimenting .12, .21, and .91DF engines. The latter being the best idea, but the gear reduction would be a pain. I still dont get the idea of drag racing helis, but adding the power via displacment is a great idea as long as the weight is negligable.

If it has a motor you can probably drag race it, that's pretty much the only excuse people need

Thanks for the muffler, I did order a zimmerman muffler. After the motor is broken in I'll give it a try.

Did I miss something??
I recall reading Rob talking about calling a meeting, but I have heard nothing about a meeting being called, and I talked with Rob on the phone earlier this week. Was a meeting called? If so, when and where?
