Hey New Guy!! An EMT would be great addition to the club! LOL Seriously tho, we all fly when we find time, and we try to hook up, but the field is open weather and farmer's activities permitting. Some Saturdays there are a lot of people there all day, and some there are none. If you're going to be there and you post it, that is likely to attract attention and people. Welcome!

EMT.

Hirobo, Great heli's thats what I fly, I have the EVO 50!! Just keep your eye on the posts for a good day to go to the field. The field is always open but that doesn't mean anyone will be there! Sat or Sun would be your best bet. Just post or PM me if you have a weekday off. Maybe we can hook up. Do you still have your plane? You are welcome to fly that as well as learning heli's. I will not be flying this weekend. But will be the following.

Listen up kids

Got a call today from one of the SOURS guys. They had a meeting re: the "situation" and decided rather than give up their vfield they are going to expand it to accomodate planes & helis with a new road and a long term lease from the town if possible.

They want our group to be involved. Before we get too upset lets see what they have in mind. They claim they want to be heli friendly but that remains to be seen. I plan to try to meet some of them at their field on Sat if anyone wants to get involved. I mentioned the concept of spliiting up frequencies if we choose to stay where we are and this is certainly a possibility.

While we have a good thing going remember we are operating on a handshake deal with Ed. He has been nothing but generous and I presume will continue to be but the concept of an RC park with a long term lease is not the worst thing I have heard. I share everyones concerns and hope to wwork out a solution to everyones satisfaction and benefit.

As always your comments are welcome and encouraged.

I have reservations about the heli friendly part as it is a majority of my R/C hobby, not just a small part of it. I understand that they feel they can be heli friendly, and I don't doubt that it is good intentions.

As a group and thanks very much to Ed, we put the field together and worked hard to get it going for ourselves, at the least, we respect each other as people who worked to make a good thing happen for us as a group, a group of us has a lot of time in working on the field since we stripped and seeded it.

However, we are all(especially the heli guys) familiar with what can happen when you mix an active heli crowd into an already existing airplane crowd. From what I have seen in the past, I feel that the rules will start to fly eventually. It's possible some members may get tired of heli's 'hovering over the runway' or in their flight path, have an over-concern about safety, etc.

At our current field we fly one type of aircraft at a time and give each other courtousy, which is why we have don't have a major conflict other than trying to get your engine started before the other guy on a busy day.

I like what we have, and it is a good place to fly, it feels like home and a comfortable place when I fly there with you guys. I don't like being a 'visitor' or 'one of the other guys'. At our field it's "one of the guys" and yes we have 'visitors' as well, but for only part of the year when they can't fly near the prison.

Also, if we move over to thier field, we are incorporated with SOURS? Although we are somewhat nameless, aside from "Orange County Flyers" that seems to be giving up a lot. When we asked SOURS to fly at our field, we just asked them to fly there during the times that ONE of their fields was down, not to give up their identity as a club.

I think it's great that they want to turn their field into an R/C air park, however I don't know who runs their clubs, their thoughts, and other things which could affect my enjoyment of the hobby. That's a lot of unknowns at the moment. We know where we stand with our people and rules at the moment. It would also be nice to see what their plans were for the new field idea, and how much input they'd let the guys who would actually fly heli's there have.

I do like the idea of frequency sharing, and I'd certainly be willing to swap crystals and Tx modules with SOURS members who fly nearby.

This hobby(RC helicopters), it's all about the fun to me, if I'm not having fun or going to have fun, I'm not really into it. Apologize for the long post.

SAR,

I agree with most of your comments and concerns. I favour a frequency arrangement over giving up our field. But I am also a realist and know our deal with Ed while OK at the moment is far from secure for the long haul. I would certainly consider joining their group as well as a personal insurance policy so I know I have a place to fly. Also I would want to support a local field available to everyone who wanted to join with a long term agreement where serious improvments could be made.

sours

i think that the sours guy i meet.(john) was a very nice guy. i know for a fact the they all are not going to be like that. the guy john even said that some of the sours guys are stuck in there ways ( if you know what i mean). i think we have a good thing with our club, and sharing the field with them was fine for hunting season. now if we join up with them i think it will not be the same at all. it is such a big club and who knows what will happen in the future. they might like the helis one week, then the next week we can be voted out if only a few don't like it.

i think we should stick to our grounds. hunting season is not for ever.

just my opinion.

Alternate Option: Try to keep us at this field as long as possible while seeking out a new field (I know I know) where we don't have these problems.

SAR.........Yep I don't see how they can argue with a plan to split freq. I like our field/group. As I said I would still consider joining their group ALSO not instead.
