I am looking at updating my GY401, but confused on which gyro to update to. Is it really matter any more? Are there really ant differences between them anymore? I have been looking at the GY520, Mini G and DS760. I am looking for any comments that can help the me make the choice. Thanks.

Any of those that you mentioned are very good, I think the only thing would be is preference.

The Spartan is software upgradable and *by far* the easiest to setup.

For example, when Futaba released the GY520 recently it supported some of the newer servo technologies.

Spartan just released a FREE software update, took about 3 minutes to isntall, and now we can take advantage of the new servo tech just the same, didn't have to buy a new gyro.

Spartan, hands down, imho. Great investment.

All those gyros you mention are "top end" and you should see an improvement over the GY401. I'm another Spartan fan and have tried the quark, first impressions are very good - at least as good as the ds760.

Might want to see what local club members are using and what's available from your LHS. Spartan ds760 with BLS251 is all I use on my nitro helis.

All of my buddies have a Gy401. About half of us fly scale so 401 is fine. A couple of us are starting to 3D. I have read the manuals for all of those and yes it looks like the DS760 is the easiest to setup. I think I will go with the DS760. Thanks for all of help.

Doesn't look like the new Quark will have data link capabilities like the DS760.

Update

Ooops,,,, I'm wrong. Didn't see that feature listed when I initially looked at the documentation. Here's a link to the documentation. Look on page 19.

What makes you say that? I understand it can be upgraded/tweaked just like the DS760.

I've used them all from the early JMW and allof the rest.

I like the Futaba 520 as well or the GY611.
But like everyone would have to agree on; all of them are verygood, just depends on what your flying style is. If you go to the NATs and if the pilots will ket you...just take a look at what Dwight, Wayne, Scott and even Curtis are flying. You'd be surprised!!

Good luck on your selection and remember; just because it is the most expensive; doesn't make it the best.

Just MHO after being in this hobby since 1957 (RC) and Heli's since 1974.

Thanks!

"spartans" are not being discontinued now.

the 760 is NOT being discontinued. the quark is an addition to the 760, not a replacement.

cheers

Align Gp750 is also very good, but quality control isnt great and you could get a bad one.

Spartan DS760 is being discounted by some vendors, but isnt going to be discontinued.

Spartan quality control is second to none right now, and every single unit is individually calibrated.

What a lot of people dont realise, is when you register on spartans website, youre gyro is warranted for 3 year's, and has 50% crash replacement.

Add to that out the box 'it work's, and the Quark is even better!! with an intuative interface over USB and bluetooth..

I cant see a better Deal than that anywhere.
