Basically - that yellow light doubles as a power indicator and a mode indicator. OK assuming the camera is OFF. Press & hold the power button (larger of the two buttons) - the LED comes on (press & hold to switch off as well BTW). When the LED is ON, if you press the other (smaller) button the camera will take a picture (LED goes off then on once). IT will take a picture every time you press the button. To switch to video mode, press and hold the smaller button until the LED flashes 3 times. The camera is now in vid mode and it IS recording! NOTE the LED is OFF at this point. To stop recording, press the smaller button. The LED will illuminate once more. You can press the power button to turn off the camera. The camera will time out on power if it isn't recording in vid mode.

Video footage (AVI format) uses approximately half a Gig per 10 minutes of filming BTW.

If you hook the camera up to your PC then you can obviously check what's on the flash drive once windows sees it as an external storge device.

Hope this helps, but here's a good site to have a look at as well:-

This guy has details on several types of these cameras.

That was absolutely awesome!! Like others have commented, the 4 point rolls look like it's on rails. It's as precise as watching mike mangold banging them out in his Edge!!

Thanks for sharing this awesome video. There's something about the effect of a stationary heli and the ground moving about that just captivates me!!

Definitely check out the site that TachyonDriver listed, and stay away from the Cam's with internal memory, they are using Bad Flash memory in them, thus why there are so cheap. Mine stopped responding but the firmware reboot procedure brought it back to life.

Oh, you can set the time and date on these by following these directions:

Changing the Time/Date for the Car Alarm Key Chain Hidden Video Camera:

1. Create a text file in either Text Edit for Apple, or Note Pad on the PC.
2. Type in your current date as follows in Military or 24hour time. For our example, we will use June 9th, 2009 @ 8:10 pm. Enter the date as year, month, date, hour, minute, second:
2009.06.09 20:10:00
3. Using the highlighted date above, save the file as SetTime.txt and drag to the main directory for the camera from the desktop.

Kewl , I was thinking you were going to put skids on the lilypads

I purchased a Kingston 4GB mini SD card with one of the keychain cams and have a question about the card. While it records video fine , if you try to use it to store music or picture files it changes the file names to Chinese characters and then you can not access the files . I have formated the card and tried several different things but is there a way to fix this ? I would like to use it in my cell phone when not in the camera.

That might be a fun goal to aim for next time

I have not seen the file naming issue you are having with yours, but there are about 4 different versions of this camera on the market. I use an old 8GB card I took out of my old LG EnV2 phone.

Well, my last flight I used the camera under the 450, upside down. So I had to use Windows Movie Maker to compress and invert the video for playback. It works just fine and is fairly easy to use.

On my cam it needs a file called tag.txt. I place this file into the root directory of the SD card. When I power the camera off then on again the timestamp is displayed - if I set the time to read 13:00 - then the camera starts recording from that time, even if I'd waited until 14:00 to start filming. However, the file disappears from the SD card, so to change the date and time, you have to copy the file onto the card again; it isn't there for you to just edit it.
