move the balls on your servo horn in. That will allow more servo travel. That should get you going. You want the most travel you can get on the throttle servo without changing end points to limit it.

Dx7 With Ion Power Supply. Why use anything else.

exactly what Rodney said. Move the ball in on your servo horn. I have my throttle working with 100 - 100 endpoints.

Thanks guys, I didn't even think of that! This thing is purrr-n like a kitten now. The last thing I wanted to do was change Gov's and drill another magnet in.

Everything is on the first post of this thread including pictures... Always check back for any changes, plus the fact there is plenty of help here...

Box full of fun

Bob
Its not mandatory, but it makes it better.. Just set the gov up so you can turn it off, to check up on the needles, or see if something is wrong with the engine every now and then...

Just shorten your servo arm. You can get 100 and 100 with a shorter arm.

Phone call with Heli-world/century

Hello Billme and all
Just got off the phone with Robert from heli-world/century in regards to more parts that are not 100%. I recieved the replacement tail plate and when I put my stock setup on that comes pre assembled it was so tight that it did not even spin, so did the upgrade and same thing. Also the other day noticed my tail drive gear #2 page 29 when you rotate it the gap goes from 2mm down to .05mm as you rotate this gear, not sure of any issues this may cause once engine running as it appears warped and I mentioned this to Robert also. I was informed that these issues were my fault and Quote "put your heli on ebay and recoup your money" then told to take a drill and drill out the brass shaft...

After being on hold for a bit Robert came back and told me that they will send me these parts but that there is no way that they came like that.

I know I have posted many questions on here and some probably seemed like real easy to answer but this is my first gasser but not my first heli, I just wanted to make sure and I also learned alot.....

Another person told me they stopped coming on this site to answer questions because I did not buy the heli from them,,,

So it appears I create to much controversy so I am signing off from this site and will deal with the radikal as needed.

To those that helped to answer my questions thank you..

bec

Century

They actually told you to Ebay your heli and get your money out of it that way. WOW I guess I wont be calling them for support if I even buy one now. I was going to buy the whole thing from them FBL head and all.
Seeing as I cant fly around here for three months I will read a little more feedback on this first.

I've had my share of problems with this kit as well. First off, 2 of my main grip bearings were the wrong diameter on the inside. The spindle would not fit them. I called and was told that they would ship replacements out. The next day, I found that I was missing the tail control rod ends and also requested the tail plate "fix". I finally received the parts after waiting over 2 weeks. Century included another main shaft bearing for the top block with the parts shipment. When installing it, the mainshaft lock coller snapped in two when I went to tighten it up. I used a spare MA lock collar to fix it. When assembling the tail, I found my slider to be way too tight on the output shaft. I took it apart and installed the new plate, hoping it would free it up, but it is not usable. I elected to order the metal upgraded slider instead of calling Century back. On my last 2 calls I was on hold for nearly 30 minutes while some lady kept shuffling asking questions and then putting me back on hold to find answers. I now have my radikal all finished up and ready to go. I can't wait to put it in the air next weekend.

Bec,
I'm real sorry to hear this....Just PM me if you need help if you don't want to be on here..

mlevings,

Sounds like all you needed to do was just fit the slider by taking sand paper, and a drill, and cut the size down a bit... Sometimes you have to do that. You can take metal off, but can add it..
Century is not perfect, but who is

I don't understand about what was wrong on the control plate..explain a little more for me..

Nothing was wrong with the control plate. The slider was too tight even before the new plate was installed. I've never built a kit where I had to sand the tail slider on it.

Are you taking about the slider to tight sliding on the shaft? then sometimes you have to do that...Sometimes you have to be a modeler, and trim something...

Yep, I remember my Robbe and MA kits 10-12 years ago. You had to "polish" the main shaft for a silky smooth fit. I always used steel wool, worked great!

Actually both my jr vibe 50 had tail pitch slider that was to tight, what I usually do is put a little pollishing compound on the shaft and slide the pitch slider back and forthe for a few minutes, then clean it real well and lube it. This makes it the correct size and polishes it too. Butt Simple.

This should be done to all sliders in my opinion, Even a piston in an engin needs to wear in!

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, But my kit was Perfect, with the exception of the tail pitch slider being backwards, which was replaced for free almost imediately.

I think I speak for most of us here, But were always happy to answer questions and help when we can here.

I would have to say that Bill, oldfart, and Raja just to name a few were very helpful when I had questions.

This is not my first Heli either, Maybe my 10th but every model is different and every modell has its quirks, atleast the ones I have owned so far anyways.

This is a hobby, so building and tweaking is required. There are RTF Heli's for people who dont like to build.

BEC,

I would like to thank you for asking so many questions. I think its questions like yours that has made this thread so good. This was my first gasser build from ground up and I found myself referring to your questions time and time again. Thanks to you, Bill and many of the other guys on this thread, I now have a Sweet flying Radikal. So stick with it and enjoy that sucker when you get it in the air.

What issues of do you speak? If there are issues, then they need to be presented here so they can be known...

I got a good one...

This was my first heli build and I did it in a little over four days. Spent a lot of time reading this thread and asked a few questions. When I received my kit it had a few amendments included in it that seemed to address many of the previous issues. The only problem I had was forgetting to securely tighten the clutch shoe and I broke a ball joint. I have been flying MA nitros for years, just was lucky enough to buy all my helis pre built. This kit is not in the same class as one of my stratus’ but at least I can afford to buy parts when I need them. I have flown about five tanks and can’t wait to take it out and fly some more. Looks like most of the kit are sold out so I’m thinking there are quit a few others that like it as well.
