Hey Steak Boy

So, you got our steaks yet?
One week to go. 10th anniversary of flying at THE HUT, skip the crowds, T-BONE is feeding us, better not be some road kill deer you found on the way home. Does Zolen know we're coming?

Black is Back

10th anniversary of BLACK FRIDAY AT THE HELI HUT was a good time.
Lives are much different now than in 2006,kids grown, more gray hair and wrinkles and helis and gear much different too. No electrics in 2006. No flybarless, no bailouts, and very few 50 size nitros then, 30's were still the entry point, Thunder Tigers, Excells, Hirobos, Kalts, were kings. The hut didn't even have walls then.
Anyway it's all different now, even though helis peaked back in 2012-13, the diehards are still getting after it.
Diehards in attendance this year, Zolenator, T-bone, Musty, dialarotor, scooter, Shaw, Kane, Peacock.
Good gathering of pilots along with some good food & drink.
Can't go wrong with, chili, cupcakes, cooler corn, chips, sausage sticks, and lots of fresh grilled steak sandwiches, soft drinks, brews and of course "The Captain".
Gang all there between 9 & 10 and most stayed until almost 5, eating, story telling, chopping firewood, flying and joking.

Sounds like there will be some firewood splitting soon to make sure there is some winter flying at the Hut.

Saw this on CL, came up in conversation yesterday.

Can also go this way too.

Interlochen Field

From the latest TRAMPS newsletter:

NEW BUSINESS:

Ben Komrska made a presentation regarding possible changes to the TRAMPS Interlochen RC Field. Shut down the N - S runway, install a larger Pavilion and address irrigation zones. Estimated cost of $1800.00 for Doug Sattler to build and install Pavilion.
Motion was made by Ben Komrska to eliminate the N - S runway at Interlochen. Motion approved by all. Note: Rule #16, no more than six planes can fly at same time.
Second motion made by Ben Komrska, install a 10X20 Pavilion along the E - W runway, constructed and installed by Doug Sattler with 2 ft. Trusses and metal roof. Motion second by Rob McDonald and favored by all. Location of the new Pavilion, to be West of existing shade tent. Final location to be determined. Parking also extended to the west.

I asked Mike Conlin (secretary) about this and he says that area adjacent to the parking lot, south of the E-W runway, where helis are generally flown when planes are using the E-W runway, is going to be where the pavilion and additional parking will be. I'm not sure if the use of helicopters was even brought up during the discussion. Guess, I need to go to a meeting once in a while.

I'm not sure if any of this matters, until someone is hovering a heli on the only runway, while a plane is taking off or landing.

Anyone know of any good subdivisions to fly in?

-Kevin

Nice Tony.

Yeah I've got a number of good subdivision to fly. The residence, however, are not all that friendly.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a plane fly at Interlochen lol. Let's just move heli night to Interlochen and run the plankers off...

I like that idea.

Good seeing you at indoor flying, Tony. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone you had FPV goggles on...
