RE Kontronik

Regarding Kontronik ESC´s: That is not fully true anymore. Have a look at YGE controllers, another boutique-type German engineering company.....

NO ONE IS EVEN CLOSE TO KONTRONIK...NO ONE!
Have you tried the Jeti Spin line of ESC's. The biggest ones are opto's...but they work awesome, better than anything else I've tried
including the Jazz 55. But I have yet to try the Jive's for two reasons, they are ridiculously expensive (for the 80 & 120 HV's), and because I wasn't very impressed with the Jazz 55. But I would like to try the 120HV on one of the 700E's, but $540...

I hate to get off topic so Ill say this. Alan did a great demo of their system and the heli flew really well.

Kontronik somehow packed in one of the best BEC,s I have ever used in an ESC and also packed in an 80 amps worth of FETS into a tiny little package that looks to be splash proof.... Their governors have worked well for a long time too.

So no, I have not seen anything close to what kontronik packs into to a tiny little glob of red goop

If there are problems with the thing, it certainly didnt look like it in that video. It appeared very locked in and smooth, piro tic-tocs were very precise as well as the slow piro-flips, I saw no corrections other than what was needed.

Thats one of the things I enjoy about our hobby these days, always something new to look forward to, the anticipation and speculation is part of the fun.

The unit might be working fine, but Alan is a professional and has full factory support.
The real problem could be to find a 1st time working setting that will work on 99% of helies out there.
So they could be working on a User friendly interface and how to make sure that the absolute majority have a 1st time success.

I want quality not quantity . Align hit home run on airframes for crash repair costs but on some of their other releases Ive been disappointed. I like to fly not troubleshoot and replace . I pay more up front but it is safer and reliable . I burned up a Castle and a Align speed control (not mine and not a set up issue just cant handle my flying )and now going to Kontronik for obvious reasons .

Just think you will be able to buy a ready to fly 90 size heli FBL this will create a stir with newbie questions

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Maybe not reverse engineered, but every manufacturer will use the experience of previous successful makers and build on that.
My understanding is that the success of a FBL system mainly relies on the software.

The same as each flybared heli today is in principal a modified version of the original Schlueter system.
And there is nothing wrong with that...why re-invent the wheel?

Thanks for the replies,i know all manufacturers base their designs on previous stuff but maybe improve it but what i meant is you need a starting point to work from and the V bar is about as good as any, nobody cant say Mikado have certainly put the most time into developing the complete system and more importantly the software that it runs.

I am very keen to see the Align system on the market but my wish is that it drives the V bar price down because of this.

As mentioned the software is everything,if it does not feel and fly right they are screwed.Alans videos are as always very impressive and a joy to watch but its what the model feels like when you actually fly it yourself that will make or break it.
