Anyone got Windows 7 running yet? Considering purchasing it and installing on my Dell.

I ran the RC version for quite a while until they started with all the patching nonsense. I really like it. I'll be buying the student version for $30.

my friend is

He put it on an older xp laptop - WOW. Faster than Linux. It's really the same as xp or vista, just different shaped icons, but fast and lean from my quick look at it.

Turn on the radio BEFORE starting the engine. Just kidding!

I had as a beta version since last June, uninstalled because I could not get the newes beta version and my computer would turn off every two hours. For the time it was working was much better that the Vista.

Was running RC for a while. Drivers were too buggy though.
I built a new PC and ordered Vista premium 64 and got a coupon for the free Windows 7 upgrade. Should be here by Friday.
Hopefully driver support is better by now.

I switched from XP Pro 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate and love it. Never bothered with Vista but did use it on my laptops. 7 has so many cool features and it runs really well even on older computers. I have had no problems yet and would recommenced it to everyone0. Drivers all were easy as most every manufacture has released new drivers with the releases of 7.

I'm running it, upgraded from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate...no problems, some of my APPs no longer worked...like Acronis backup, and also my Hyper-V and server tools. However..no BSOD's and everything works. For me its not much different to Vista except it seems quicker and has some more eye candy.

i just installed a fresh copy of 7 ultimate 64 bit. Had vista 64 bit ultimate on before. Not a whole lot of differences. 7 boots a little slower, i've only had it installed for a week or so so not sure if handles the ram any better yet. I dual boot with xp as well just in case I need it.

was much better that the Vista.
Please explain how it is 'Much better" ? My VISTA has been rock solid. All my apps work fine. Switching to a new OS always seems to have problems supporting non MicroSoft apps.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Directly from microsoft.
7 boots a little slower
If 7 is booting slower than vista, something is wrong. 7 should be a lot more efficient than vista is unless your running 30+ apps on start up.

Running 2 machines on it now and have a third that will be converted by the weekend. Like many others, I ran the RC for quite a while and it was flawless. The only software I had any issue with was the MS software for their keyboard and mouse...go figure. I had already upgraded Acronis to a compatible version and Phoenix is perfectly happy on 7 so it was a winning switch here!!

I run all nVidia cards, however, without knowing what your card is, not much help can be given.

No need to, win 7 has a built in virtual PC (winXPmode). I have been using Win XP 64bit, however there seems to be a lack of support for apps/drivers for it. I installed vista 64, and that was a dog... had all sorts of problems.. software not working right, never really liked Vista. Windows 7 is what Vista should of been, all my apps work, drivers work, nice task bar with some nice features. All in all I am pretty happy. I have it running on a Dell Precision Laptop M6400, 8gigs memory, 620g drive (raid 0 320x2) a real powerhouse of a laptop. So your results may vary.
