I try sending money to someome via paypal as a gift. A lot of people said there is no fee involved. But when I do select it as a gift under the personal tab, there is always a check box "I pay the fee" just before I click the send money button. If I uncheck it, then it will be the buyer paying the fee. So, how do you get through it without any fee involved?

I dont think you can get around paying any fees or they wouldn't get there cut and be able to make money on it.

You used to be able to - I heard it had gone away but maybe that's what my buddy meant by there is a fee now. Is it the same fee as a normal send?

All the fees involved with Pay-Foe and Fleece Bay are the reason I don't use them anymore.

I think there is always a fee if using a credit card. I believe there is no fee if you send money from your paypal account or a bank account balance.

The fee for a gift is $5.00 for every $1,000.

The thing that makes me leary is this: Send the money as a gift and you have no recourse for a dispute. Granted, a transaction outside of ebay gets you no where in a dispute anyway but at least there's something.

What upsets me is the fees are the fees. Per PayPal's rules you are not to attempt to collect the fees. I admit I put in any of my forsale ad's "shipped including PayPal fees" to make the sale more attractive but just as in making money at work with taxes, you get dipped anywhere you make money.

In a nut shell. The fees are not that bad. Just my personal opinion.

Plus one here on the send as a gift, I will only gift to ones I know for a fact will not screw me.

As for anyone else its credit card threw paypal, after doing alot of talking about the subject about credit cards, and how they will track down fraud is a good thing.

If you do gift threw paypal and you dont get your item and you use a credit card your still ok, as you can use your PM's here on RR to still get your money back and show to credit card company's that even thou it was a gift to save money they can see it was still for goods sold.

Anyone using Paypal or any other company to commit fraud is a very bad idea as you have to have a bank account, and the information you give to a bank to open an account makes it possible for the fed's to find you, as most banks have cameras now and it will catch up with you if you look to commit fraud.

This hobby sucks, when your not flying.

I too only use the PP gift if I am dealing with someone I have done business with before or that I trust as a friend. All others get PP via credit card as it is the only way to have any real recourse should things go wrong.

I would be afraid of trying to abuse the system. If you send the money as a gift and then not receive any product, how are you going to fight it
