Howdy!

I'm running a JR DS3500g tail servo with a 9mm servo horn in a mini-vbar Trex 450Pro using a modified version of the 450 preset. Using the servo throw settings (CCW, CW) under Rudder Adjustments I can only get about 38 before binding occurs. Also, I have the Yaw Rate set to 140 and my piro rate is still quite slow. Yada, yada, yada.

So, what sort of effects should result from varying the tail servo horn length? What are the compromises, if any?

Thanks guys!

Lower limits in the VBar = higher mechanical gain, you can move it inwards and raise gain as well as limits in the Vbar.

If your servo is up for it (good centering, and good torque) it will fly anyway.
If you get sudden fast wag at hard stops, which really dont go away by lowering the gain, move the ball on the servohorn inwards to make it easier for the servo.

Total piro speed is a few options you can do.
First, make sure your tail is set to "Linear" in the Vbar program, and use Expo in the radio as it will affect overall speed rather then using expo in the program.

Then you can manually enter rate up to 200 in the program

If that's not fast enough you can probably over-drive it with DR/ATV in the radio even further.

Thanks MrMel! I changed to an 8mm horn. Now I can get 47 CCW/CW. In general, is there a good CCW/CW number to shoot for?

45 to 55 is what I usually target, so I would say your in the green.

I picked up a minor wag. So I lowered the tail gain to 75. Is this still good?
