I have the JR3517's in mine. They are very fast and extremely accurate. The Align 510's would be a good choice too for the money.

Alternates to what?

Align DS510s, Hitec HS5245MG, HS81/HS82, Futaba S9650, S9257, JR3517's, the list goes on.

The 81/82 work, but aren't anything to get excited about.

I have the 3517mg's. Do they make a plastic gear version?

LOL, and I didnt know they had a plastic gear version.

Looks like the 3650's are the same. Wonder why they have two versions with entirely different part numbers.

I use Futaba S9650's with the metal gear sets (9660 metal gears) from Hobby City. They work great and crash well.

I just got a nitro 500 flying with HS5245MG's on it, and it feels great in the air but you have to mod the top case of the servo or the center gear pin will break out in a crash.

Problem Im finding with servos for my 500 is theres nothing inbetween very cheap and very expensive, theres the HS 82`s about $30 and Towerpro $15, then the next jump up is Align 510/520`s that cost $75, Ide like to spend a bit more more than $15-20 on 3 servos, but I cant afford $200 or more for 3 servos, would be good if there was something for around the $50 mark that worked good.

Hitec HS5245MGs work exceptionally well in the 500. And they're about $50 a whack. What more could you ask?

http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-52...gital_mini.html

The DS510s are good and you can buy three for about $110.

Servo choices

Have you checked out the blue arrow 26012MG servos ? They are the same size and case as the 9650's.

They are digital coreless and metal gears.
The blue arrow 26010 are a clone to the futab 9257 also, which I thought I would add.
