Just wondering how many are still running this hyper engine.

Are you guys happy with this engine, does it make good power.

I have been reading that its not a very good engine and just curious as to weather anyone has done any mods to it to improve it.

Comments please

I have been running one for a year and a half, I would have changed it but it goes so well I can't see the point.
Even Duncan Osbourn has flown my 700 and thought it had plenty of power. I would expect if people are having trouble they can't tune engines or use crap fuel.

I am running eight of them plus an old C Spec. Great motors, where on earth did you hear negative comments on them? Hear on RR?

yep,

Read some bad comments here on runryder and also searching on the net, it seems that some are saying OS made a mistake making that particular engine. Apparently the engine suffers some vibration due to the crank design. The C spec is supposed to fix that.

I was just curious as to how many are still using them without a problem.

Opinion always seem to go both ways so I just wanted to find out how many love this engine and don't have any issues.

When you compare the two engines, (SZ vs. HZ) the HZ is VERY smooth. The SZ has a lot of vibration. The HZ is a fantastic engine. Having said that as far as power the SZ is fine but I like the smoothness of the HZ. If you have an SZ laying around I say run it until it breaks and then get an HZ.

When you say the sz has a lot of vibration what exactly do you mean, How is that actually measured in a running heli compared to the hz ?

I was always led to believe thatr the hyper produces more power over the standarc engine, like the 50 hyper against its standard 50. Is that just not the case.

my turbulence suffered with a vibration problem with a c spec in it
after chasing around trying to find the issue i fitted a hz and instant cure
the c spec went into my freya that was running a sz pump that the rear bearing had failed and it was perfect

the sz in the freya has always been smooth

if you get vibrations look at the airframe design/materials
the stiffer the frame the more vibrations you will get
due to the frame not absorbing the vibes

I thought the C spec was BEFORE the SZ with the HZ being the latest offering.

My SZ with Cline reg is stonking, even in my so called 'heavy' R90

I've got an SZ with a Cline. I think It'll be replaced with an HZ in the Spring.
