Usually what I say is worth nothin apparently, yet people obviously read what I write...anyhow, we've had that custom for centuries apparently. In the 1800s you could go to a place once a year were everybody's taxes were read out loud. Before internet you had to go to the community centre and read them off a list that were layed out there. Now the lists are on the net...imo nothing good comes from it even it just creates envy. People do of course wonder why those that make millions don't pay tax...

Maybe it's in our constitution and that we can of course not change.....

Glad to see there are deadbeats in Norway too.

yeah we don't necessarily have that market cornered, though you'd think we do. I'm quite sure it will happen here too if the Libs get their way.

You still don't read well do you prutt?

The problem about this system isn't that. No one cares about those, people check up on their neighbours, kids check up on their friends parents, "everybody" checks up on the famous (don't need to really, the papers usually do it for you)

The problem is not the deadbeats which btw can be found just about everywhere which you obviously would realise if you gave it a thought before typing...

The problem is the envy this creates and how kids treat eachother when the parents "doesn't make enough money". I live in the part of Oslo that has the highest average income and kids are generally pretty spoilt moneywise. Usually they "bully" eachother for not having clothes of the "correct" brand etc, now they can in addition isolate those whose parents doesn't make enough money....nice...

And of course as every year since these lists were on the net, some people are being blackmailed/threatened as soon as the lists are out....

I was quite ok with the system where it was public, but you had to go to the community centre to check it out. Kids and criminals wouldn't bother, in fact very few did. The net is just ridiculous for these kind of info.

I wanna say something funny/ironic here, but I can't because you're right. Just seems like it's an idea that had good intentions and technology just ran away with it. I know that I wouldn't want to have my stuff published, either good or bad.

That would be hitting the nail on the head I guess...

publishing peoples income

You should remember where all this comes from: the defunct Soviet Union. It was widely advertised that Breshniew got the standard salary of an engineer. What was not advertised was that he did not need any money as the state paid all his expenses. Having a more than thousand km long border with the Soviet Union Finland was under Soviet influence for 2 generations in spite of the fact that we were not occupied by them. No wonder the Tax Officials Ass. started to make good money by publishing a "Tax Calender". At some point that was considered monopolist, so now every newspaper does the same.
There was an income limit under which the information was not sonsidered to attract interest. Some people felt discriminated against and declared higher income (and consequently paid higher taxes) just to be in the calender. Maybe Norway is a Johnny come late after all ?

Sorry Kaarlo but we have had this custom for centuries, actually the custom here is much older than the Soviet Union...

Did it start with the Vikings so that they would know who to rob?
Or did they just rob overseas?
Just kidding! But that system is all screwed up!

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!
