Hi guys i would just like to share with you what a dumb ass i have just been..............here goes
just installed a tt redline 53 in my rex 600.....i thought i would run it up in my back yard to see if everything is ok.....now the area in my yard were to hover is 7 feet by 7 feet yup atad stupid.......
any how got into the hover and the thing just shot to full revs.NO..i was like what the ##ck is that ,thinking it was a sticky carb from reading from the crap carb section.....Anyhow still in the hover at full rpm i turned the heli to look at the throttle servo and s##t there was no freaking SERVO HORN on the throttle,i had'nt put the screw in the horn........it would'nt have been to bad if there was like half a tank of fuel but no i had to fill the tank to the brim.....and had to ride it out screamming for 10 mins or so......good job i had it on the rich side to....i landed after what seemed an eternity and the engine was still cool......
i think i ascaped pretty well considering the space to fly in....

in future i will check all servo horns are conected before flight..
kind regards helinelly

if it broken.....glue the bast#$d...keep flying..i tell the wife my crashes cost £20! works for me

It could have been worse...it could have been a cyclic servo...That would have been a WHOLE lot worse.

I have a friend who couldn't stop this engine just like you, he used a broom stick to plug the exhaust.

Glad to hear you kept it in one piece. I did something simular. I was working on my Rex 450, wel a little while later I was looking things over and realized I had forgot to put the screw back on the tail servo. I'm lucky the horn never came off.

That gives one quite a shock when something like that happens. Especially in those tight quarters. I can remember starting my Fury w/throttle servo reversed one time when I first got it. Very exhilarating.

even not doing anything would have been better than nothing...

Thou hast become a member of the forgetful/anxious school of heli's
I've been a member for over 35years....May I just say welcome!!

Just a thought though (seriously); in the old days when stupid stuff ran wild in the heli pilots camp...we would carry a towel (large) to heave onto the blades to stall her out.

Good job....

Well I think the ring is seated now. Sorry about that. How did neighbors feel about the noise and smoke? My neighbors run back into the house when I do test run. (My wife's ex inlaws) and I have about 50' by 50'

my most recent brain short was with the second hover of my brand spanking new 700LE in front of my house. I decided it was my second hover and i would set the idle up, so i did...or thought it did. i hit the switch and suddently it went up like i had dumped the collective...WTF, went back on the switch and down it came...of course, because i had no head speed. broke the gear and tail blades....and God I was lucky nothing else. Cause: I had programmed the pitch curve, not the throttle curve....before that it was reversing the governor and gyro leads on q 600 and as soon as the engine came on...let's just say it got real exciting before i figured it out.

let's see...in my airplane days there was the gas engine that i took apart and it wouldn't run when i put it back together. I was absolutely sure that I had the carb and crankcase pressure lines in their right places, so there was no point in evening trying to reverse them...

Isn't there a club or something?

once apon a time i had a tt53 engine that i just couldn't get to run cool i was running it sooo rich i had to pump the throttle up and down to get it to start and run and there was a nice spray coming out the tail pipe of unspent fuel... and STILL she ran so hot i couldn't touch it i sent it back to the factory for repair 2 times they said it was fine replaced everything including the sleeve/piston/ring and still i couldn't get it to run well... guess what... i was touching the head thinkign it was the back plate... lol

Good idea VooDoo.
Then I could tell the story of when my dummazz was setting up my brothers Trex 450 and reversed the throttle instead of pitch.
Did the chicken dance on the table,on the couch and on the floor and under the coffee table.Brand new everything on the heli.JUNK.

Hmmm,I guess I just told it.lol

I literally never use the word literally right.
