figured we should get a complete thread of any fixes/tips for this helis build, so if you ran into any issues during the build and have a fix/tip for it, please post for everyone to see

thanks to oragami (craig), here is the fix for the head block "wobble" on the main shaft...

Problem. The Head Block is made out of Very Thick Aluminum, and the tolerances within the block are just a tiny bit off, almost negligible, anyway this makes for a head that cant be tightened due to a spring effect, strength, and thickness of the Aluminum.

Fix. Very Easy. All you have to do it take the head off the helicopter. Put the bolt through the hole, and tighten it to the Nut, as tight as you can get it. This will Pre load the head block and actually Bend it in, key word (Pre-Load). The problem is that the Bolt is not strong enough to do this when on the Main Shaft. Take the Bolt and Nut off, and slide it back onto the Main Shaft, Insert Bolt and Nut, and Tighten it up Tight. No more Wobble.

i noticed that the canopy standoffs seemed a little wide for the canopy itself, so i turned them and re-tapped them .25" shorter each and it made a huge difference and there is still clearance of about .2" between the canopy and front mounted cyclic servos...

Dug this thread back up think we should get it going again. +1 on the preload. I also cut the slit in the block up as it not long enough to allow it to clamp. Also the frames seem to be breaking where the skids mount. Even on a light touch down heres my fix. I have more just having a brain fart

Save time and money; from the start buy the upgraded gyro mount tray!

Buy both upgraded frame braces for the front like wifeorheli mentioned!

Maybe boom support cross brace!

well when i was running flybar i had the gy401 on the rear tail ran perfectly. But when i went to fbl it didnt like it due to vibrations(sensor very sensitive) so got the gyro plate problem solved. When i started the motor with no blades and spooled it up a tad i put my finger on the plate and there was nothing perfectly smooth no vibes. This heli has vibes no matter what i do but ive learned to live with it there not that bad.

yeah for some reason just upgrading the plate does all that. Its still hard mount to the frame, but as long as it works all that matters right?

Works perfectly now. They should just include it with every kit!

Wife,

The C/F you used for the extra bracing under the tank/rear skid is that just a bit of scrap C/F or a modified spare?

actually some scrap from a horizontal fin. I cut to lennght and then pre drilled holes. Cool because after the tank gasket goes on you cannot see it. so i sanded the two mating sides then epoxyed and screwed it in works fantastic. I still dont understand whay they havent made a aftermarket brace. The frames are super exspensive and are very weak at that point. If you look at the design there i dont think they planned that one out very well lol

Thanks. Ill have a look around for a suitable fin to destroy..

Ive always been concerned with that notch there. I havent started doing auto's yet so it hasnt been a problem but im sure once i start learning autos there will be ton's of heavy landings which are bound to break it. At least with a brace it will have a better chance of staying in one piece.
