I need a new rear bearing in my 50 hyper. Is there an aftermarket one that is better? The last time I was doing this was with OS-61s when I was flying pattern years ago.
Thanks-870Heli AMA4663

go to you local Bearing Shop and order a quality bearing,, SKF, NSK, NTN, Timken, or find a Bearing Distributor on-line,, please don't buy a un-branded bearing..

OS 50

Thanks guys. My LHS has boca's in stock but only in pairs. I only need the rear. The LHS has them for $37.00. Is that a good price?

The OEM bearing is $18 from Tower, or you can pay $4.50 at RC-bearings.com.
Both seem to last the same.
Never saw better performance using ceramics or SS either.
This info is coming from someone who "uses up" at least 1 engine a year (typically get 40 gallons out of one)

I've been tempted to try a "name brand" expensive bearing, but the cost difference for just one is a lifetime supply of the cheap ones. Of course, this would be worth it lasted the life of the engine.

Yes,thats a good price for the Boca bearing set, same price I paid for mine online.I posted this in another thread about the Boca bearings
I put a boca bearing in my old OS Hyper 50.Had a little over 30 gallons through it and still ran like day one.I sold that motor to bwerneth about 1 month ago and check in with him to see how its holding up and he said its running very strong for his flying (mild 3D,same way I fly) .Before I sold it I took the whole motor apart and the bearings didn't have any rust on them and were smooth as butter, see pics here http://runryder.com/helicopter/p4425966/ .Im running a Boca in my new Hyper with no bearing issues at all so it seems to hold up very good and I stopped counting the gallons haha..
Click the link in the quote I posted and look at the rear bearing,it still looked like new after 30 gallons and smooth as butter .
