jrocks,
I just picked one of these "Bad Boyz" up, going to be running it with my Scorpion 2206-3900kv. Motor and Xtreme 15T. (worm-screw type) pinion on my T-Rex 250. I read somewhere (here on RR) that this should yeild HS around 5000 RPM
(still yet to confirm, will keep you posted)

I have the Kontronik MiniJazz 20 on my 250 with a 16T pinion at 80% and the same motor as you, and it is a pretty good setup. Maybe a little bit too tall of gearing, but close. I have not tached it yet. I might switch to 15T next time I have to rebuild it.

Where did you get this worm drive gear? Is it a helical gear? Then you must need a different main gear too?

So you're already enjoying the rewards of the Mini-Jazz
The Xtreme Products pinion is still a straight-cut type (as far as the gears go) but, it has the grub (or worm) screw to fasten-it to the motor's shaft (instead of just using the green loctite to secure-it in-place). Have you checked motor/esc/pack temp.'s after flights yet (?)

I'm using the Innovative Designs pinion set which has a grub screw. It has been relatively cold these last couple of months, and I still do not have the V-bar programmed right to allow me to do much hardcore 3D, but as far as I can tell the motor, packs, and ESC are just slightly warm to the touch after a 4 minute flight. I have had 2 flights in which the motor had very little power after only a minute which I think might be attributable to a weak battery, and one flight where the motor just quit unexpectedly one minute into the flight and I had to auto in, but other than that it has been flawless. I am using Hyperion 850mAh G3 batteries. I still have yet to figure out why I had a flight where the motor just stopped for no reason, but it has not happened again since. I have discharged and recharged the 2 suspicious Hyperion packs and they do not show as much capacity as the others, but that would not explain the motor cutting off, at least I don't think so. I am running the mode 4 setting on the ESC.

Sounds good, and Please be careful with those suspicious-packs, I remember seeing a pic. (or 2) of your T-Rex 250 FBL Heli, not worth risking-it with the amount of $$$ you have in that one
I was reading a post that stated that the 16T. pinion on that set-up is just "INSANE"
I'd like to see what kinda' HS you're getting with the "Little-One" being FBL (and on the 16T. ?) That thing's gotta' be a BLAST to Fly !!

I'll try and remember to tach my headspeed next time it is calm enough to fly. I'm only running 80% on the ESC. Apparently Kontronik says you must keep the governor below 85% or else you will run out of head room.

Yes, I have discharged and recharged all of my 250 packs, and one of them appears to have less than half the stated capacity. I guess I'll toss it. I can't believe a Hyperion pack died after only 2 or 3 flights. The other packs seem OK, at least for now.

I'm still having problems with the mini-V-bar on the 250, so it is not really all that ballistic because it oscillates a lot. Once I get that fixed, I think it will be more fun. Tweaking a V-bar can take a lot of time, and if you're not careful, can result in a crash. But once a V-bar is set up just right, it is great.

Awesome
That gives me soo-much to shoot-for, think I'm gonna' stay Flybarred on this one for a while longer (Although, I read about the virus that's spreading quickly ). I think I'm goin' FBL on my T-Rex 500CF Heli next but, the thought has crossed my mind about doing the "Little-One" at some point. I'm sure that you'll get the Mini-V "dialed-in" in the near-future and that will make-it all worth-while. I pretty-much learned how to hover (w/some FF) on a BCP/Pro, waited and waited for the Rex 250's release as I knew that a Belt-driven tail would be a huge-improvement, FBL with the Scorp./Mini-Jazz set-up should be a BLAST !!

I think a FBL 500 would be much more pleasing for you than a FBL 250. The 500 flies better. The 250 is much more problematic.

Definetely gonna' do the 500 first, I'm almost afraid to touch the 250 as it performs-flawlessly in it's stock-configuration but, knowing that the Scorp/Mini-Jazz will give me some-more punch, that's what's next on the list
