Ok, I can see that now. I am not familiar with the Raptor and I could not figure out what it was. It looked pretty weird when I first saw it.

it took me a second too, madness. it looks a little psychadelic. the project has stalled a bit due to my Suburban's fuel pump going out. $600 at the dealership or buy a pump for $300 and drop the tank myself. lucky me. and it started snowing like crazy again. looks like i've got some work to do so i can get back to my real priorities. do you guys have any tips about painting blades? i attempted it the other night but the paint doesn't stick to the blades. do i need to scuff and primer?

this snow is starting to get old the ground is muddy and wet i drove by are field almost got stuck oh well back to the cold shop

as for painting your blades your going need to sand the gloss coat with some 600 or so to make the paint stick then rebalance the blades after painting

no problem. it's about the only topic for me right now. if the snow lets up i'll drop the tank this afternoon and the pump will be here in the morning. i think i can handle it with a couple jacks. i've got it to start a couple times beating on the tank with my trusty hammer but i think that trick has played out now so i can't even pull it in my shop. gotta do what you gotta do. thanks for the offer. one of us cold and wet is probably enough.

just don't get a cheap aftermarket pump or you will be doing this aging in about 6 months or less

if you get stuck call (then aging if your stuck how are you going to call)

You would think that as long as they have been putting those pumps in th tanks they could at least make it where you didn't have to drop the stinking tank.

Good luck with it and watch out for the tank when it decides to fall!

76 and it will never be for sale. my trusty old 74 burned in my house fire 2 yrs ago and i've been looking for this one every since. thanks for the compliments, i'm happy with the rivets as well. after replacing my fuel pump i went to throw the box away and saw a seal i left out so i got to do it all over again today. this time only took an hour and a half by myself. i think that may be a new record! now i'm going to try and clean up the shop (mud hole) and get back to work on the heli. i'll go get some karosene for the old heater and back at it i go.

You will find on the real heli there are 25 stars on each side and that some are over the vent holes. I glued in fiber screen material on the inside to make the vent screens so I could put the stars in the right places.

But you may want to use a little bigger screen.

tryan02, you dirty dawg! I thought mine would be the only copy of this heli. Maybe i'll be the only 60 size. I'm kidding, of course, and it's awesome to see the heli i'm doing flying and so nicely done. How did you do the Lifeteam lettering on the fuselage? Vinyl? Very nice heli and thanks for the pics. Also how'd you make the Medic logos on the verticle stabilizers?

PM'ed you the details.

You are gonna wet yourself the first time you see that beautiful bird do a flyby I cant imagine how awesome it will be in 60 size.

Here was my experience hopefully it can help you guy's also.

I couldn't find that what they call a "life star" on the net was always a different variation. So I just found one close and fixed it in paint. Then went to the local vinyl guy gave him a jpg and he says it was gonna be about 5 inches on his program. And didn't think he could do stuff that small it wouldn't work.

So google helped me out searched vinyl graphic paper and WALA!!!

Ok, it's been awhile, things have been busy. I'm going to get out in the shop tomorrow and i'll post some current pics. in the mean time, i found this vid on another site, mainly looking at lighting placement (which is soon to come) and i thought you guys might enjoy it. Bell sure knows how to make a sturdy heli. I know a lot of it's the pilot but what a stable ship. Here's the vid, hope you get what i got out of it. Simply impressive machine.

I contacted Callie Graphics and i'm going to have them do the vinyl cutting for me and that will allow me to get the shadowing and everything else just like i want it. I also got a sweet rotary grass cutting service, t-shirt.
