Just goofing you. To answer, gravity has been with me my entire life. I should not expect it to change at the very moment I release the rock. And I currently am being subjected by gravity, as my feet are still on the ground.

So with a look on the horizon for storm clouds and seeing none,

I'll give you 100%.

Good answer.

The answer to both questions of 'how do you know' is the evidence.

By itself that may not initially sound monumental, but just sit there quietly and ponder it awhile.

We are (most of us) intelligent, reasoning human beings.

It's a fundamental aspect of our brain structure and chemistry that we can learn and know things, both through direct observation AND through logical, fact- based deduction via the ongoing gathering of hard evidence.

You have so much FAITH in EVIDENCE. Now play my game for a second...

Let's say I had a BEAUTIFUL ice sculpture. I won't tell you what kind. I left it out in the hot sun and there became a big puddle of water.

If all you saw was a puddle of water, without having SEEN the ice sculpture, you cannot tell me that it was a sculpture, or that it was that of a wolf.

IN FACT. Without having SEEN the ice sculpture, you cannot even know it was ice just moments ago.

It gets worse. The puddle evaporates and then nothing is there.

NOW, you can deny it EVER EXISTED!

But it DID, even though the evidence doesn't point to it.
By itself that may not initially sound monumental, but just sit there quietly and ponder it awhile.
So I'll say it again...
The past is uncertain. You can have ideas about it but never reach a provable conclusion because you can't go back.

The problem is in "knowing" something.

Sometimes people just "know" they're right, when they have concluded something based on evidence that was either incomplete or non-existent.

I just "KNOW" that someone spilt their drink here. No, actually, I left my Ice Wolf there.

Human beings are constantly changing their perspective on things. Light is a particle. Light is a wave.

We do it based on observation. It could be, that our very OBSERVATION is not in keeping with reality.

Yet a careful, well-educated observer of the world around him with a long track record of correct assessment (confirmed by numerous external unbiased sources) has no need to do anything so silly all day long.

We just "knew" that leeching a wound could heal an individual.

It was preposterous to presume that there were microorganisms causing postoperative illnesses. And that doctors should wash before surgery.

We've "known" a lot of things.

C'mon, Aaron -- you're stretching the exercise. All sane thinkers know facts NEVER change -- all that can change is whether someone understands a fact. If something thought factual isn't, it was never a 'fact' in the first place.

I'm sorry if I don't buy that current wisdom is completely 100% accurate, without uncertainty.

There is always uncertainty in this world.

We will adapt our mindset to close gaps in understanding that exist today. Many scientific "truths" will be disputed and overturned. If you don't believe that you have to look at the history of scientific revelation. It never comes smoothly.

Actually that's true in some cases -- and some Harvard-trained M.D.'s are also using maggots to remove dead flesh from wounds -- works better than anything else we know so far in many cases.

That's rediculous.Completely.
No amount of good can erase pain and suffering.None.

mckrackin, sometimes I read some real thought provoking statements on these post and sometimes I wonder what people are really thinking?

Are you kidding me, obviously you do not realize what you are saying or maybe what I am saying. If a child has great pain and great suffering for a short time and then dies but enters into in heaven or paradise or where ever God puts them, and then lives not a thousand years, not a million years, not even a trillion years, but for an eternity after this in unimaginably bliss, do you honestly, honestly think that person is going to look back at the pain and suffering they might have endure.

According to Rev 21:3,4 God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. These things will be a thing of the past.

Since I know and believe there is a God and he intends to do this, I will definitely face this pain and suffering knowing that I will then have everlasting life in paradise and if indeed I get there I promise you one thing.

I want think about the pain and suffering I might have endure millions or billions of years in the past. Of that I can absolutely guarantee you.

Fable Thumpers make lots of noise, but in the end all they manage to do is confirm to all that they're existentially blind. It doesn't mean they're not decent people (some of them anyway) -- but it DOES mean they're living their lives misguided and misinformed about the most important things we can know.

It is THIS that I'm disputing. I think you give way too much credit for the human mind.

The human mind can conceive of this universe like a worm can conceive of a painting by Michaelangelo

We just don't have the computing power, IMO.
