They just traced the genetics of all modern men back to one person who was alive 60,000 years ago in east central Africa. Or don't you believe in science now either?

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

it was found to be a dubious claim, as explained by Dawkins.

Hence no Adam and Eve. And that's the end of it.

However, those with moronic faiths will always say that there was - it's called vain stubborness.

we don't THINK there was no Adam and Eve, the FACTS of the matter is that we KNOW there was no Adam and Eve who started off the human race.

The individual you refer to was probably the one known as the 'Mitochondrial Eve', a female who lived in East Afrika around 180,000 years ago. If there's another more recent individual then that's news to me -- but I'll look into it.

Regardless of when our most recent common ancestor lived, the fact remains that Modern Humans (homo sapiens) have lived here for close to 190k years.

Meanwhile, enjoy a fresh update to the Football Field Timeline.

Yup -- that sure is funny -- but just for yuks, let's examine this more closely.

Exactly which a**ho*es would you be referring to, Kev?

Would that be the religious a**ho*es who in 270BC (and again in 391AD) burnt down the Library at Alexandria, Egypt, TWICE destroying virtually the entire accumulated written knowledge of Mankind, including how to make batteries and other technologies that weren't reinvented until centuries later?

Or the religious a**ho*es who tortured and murdered THOUSANDS of innocent people during the century-long Spanish Inquisition 400 years ago?

Or the religious a**ho*es who murdered numerous early scientists merely for claiming the Earth is round or that the Sun is the center of our solar system?

Or the religious a**ho*es who STILL TODAY molest children without regret because they know their church elders will gladly cover up their evil deeds, while at the same time paying out HUGE settlements to the victims using money THOSE LIKE YOU put into collection plates every week?

THOSE a**ho*es Kev?

HA! That is certainly up for debate. Most I know will shun you if you aren't a member of the Jesus fan club or a member of their own particular variety of the Jesus fan club for that matter. Or you will get lots of attention to join the club and then negative attention if you have no interest.

Gentlemen, There is no need for name calling! The Adam I am referring to is the "scientific Adam". They tracked a certain genetic mutation that all modern men have to him. This is apperantly when our current characteristics began and we became the dominant version of human. I watched a program about this on the science channel and it was very interesting even though it didn't really change my views on religion. I, like the program, am not saying that this proves or disproves the Adam and Eve story. It just proves that what we know as modern man began 60,000 years ago.

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

Intolerant of nonsense? Of course -- sane folks wouldn't have it any other way.
little pr*ck which I not one once of respect for.
Well -- if you could assemble a coherent sentence I'd ask how you imagine that what you think could matter to someone like me, but then . . . you can't.

I hope that whole 'coming across like a child' thing works out well for ya.

How 'bout addressing the questions posed here? Too far over your head?

Not my style. Those tactics are mostly used by the precariously thin-skinned.

And besides, everyone here who matters already knows who the 'tards are.

Your a turd not a tard. When it comes to the Christians I look at the present not the past, if they were to do those things again I'd be against them. I respect their right to believe whatever they want. I don't see you saying anything about Islam. I assume you are OK with them, or are you afraid they might come after you. I assume you are because you hide your identity.

Really weak, man. You're reaching down low and you're coming up empty.

It's alright though -- we already got the gist of your 'message' months ago.

But this is an open forum, so by all means -- continue.

Really??? Do you have any idea what you just wrote?!?!

I thought this thread was about xtain examples of faith -- it's often best to examine your own backyard before venturing off into the wilderness.

Speaking of wilderness...husky, you just wandered off into a philosophical wilderness.

Would you throw open the doors of the prison if the inmates promised never to harm anyone again based upon their current belief??? Past has, after all, passed (cough) and you have to respect their right to believe.

I've read this thread from start to finish and stayed quiet because of all of the name calling and belittling that goes on in most political or religious debates in the off topics. This has been a very entertaining debate, however i see the entire debate as senseless. I am a Christian, and I wish Wildcat was still involved in the thread because he put things much more eloquently than myself. My main contribution to this thread should be the following:

1. The creation of the existence of man hasn't been scientifically proven as to it's origins. Although GF will claim he has all the answers he will offer no legitimate proof either way.

2. Since there is no finite proof offered for either side, a scientific mind has no alternative other than staying open until the proof materializes definately for either side.

3. Anyone who claims either side is wrong or right is an egotistical moron.

In this entire thread noone has mentioned humility once. This is something i think some of you who "have all of the answers", lack. You must keep in mind that the most intellegent man alive is still but a spec of dust in the overall layout of the infinite spectrum of time and space. No matter how existentially profound you think you are, you are still but a spec of dust in the scheme of things. I think humility is a virtue to be studied by those who "have it all figured out". I am an educated man but i believe that some of the folks that are closest to figuring this topic out are the most simple of the species. People who think it is more important to be a good father, husband, or part of his community than to be the smartest "existential realist" on RR. If those of you that are convinced there is no God are truly a scientific type, i ask you this; can you come to a finite conclusion either way, honestly? If so i'd like your proof, and if not I'd like you to lay off of those who disagree with you. Looking down your nose at anyone is not an attractive trait for anyone no matter the situation. One of the best things said in this thread is from the Bible, "You say seeing is believing, I say believing is seeing." I have personally seen all the proof in my own life and hope some of you will see the same. It's a catch 22 of sorts to believe before seeing but that's what faith is all about. I know i'm not going to convince anyone either way and i'm not trying to. Rather i'm stating my experience and opinions. No matter how existentially real you think you are, you will not ever understand what God is all about until you are open to do so. It is sad to me that some will never allow that to happen, and will cling to the denial of anything holy. I know this post will now be analyzed and picked apart and quoted by the existentially profound and that's ok. My flame suit is thick and so is my skin. You say that no matter how much you believe in a farytale it doesn't make it reality. I say, no matter how much you deny the truth it doesn't make it an untruth. I'm done now. Flame on

100% correct. No educated, sane human would ever deny that cuz it's true.

You stated your case well, and politely -- but the fact remains that there are no gods, no devils, no heaven nor hell. The proofs of this fact are as plentiful and abundant as the proofs that Earth is spherical, Santa Claus is imaginary and RC helis will fall to the ground if not built and flown right. One has only to open one's eyes and have a good long wide-awake, open-minded look around.

Those who choose to ignore plentiful evidence have chosen blindness, most likely because it's the most comforting choice they could think of at the time.

And those who say that anyone who doesn't believe as they do will burn in some nonexistent, mythological hell ought to be locked up in prisons. As a group, they are ultimately the most destructive human beings on the planet.

That from a guy who has already said that if he had power, he would never take away other peoples faith.

So much for humility.

I always try to be polite, but you have simply stated something here that you cannot prove as well. You can post all the charts you want but they are simply theory.
One has only to open one's eyes and have a good, long look around.
I ask you my friend, are your eyes TRULY opened, or are you convinced without "perfect" proof. If so you are as fable minded as those you clearly despise. What makes my good long look around any less substantial than yours? Are you egocentric to think your personal beliefs are more credible than mine. This is the humility I speak of, as well as the kindness to humanity that is lacking on your side of the arguement. It's the difference between an engineer and an art scholar, who is most beneficial. One is not better than the other, simply different. I think you are a very intelligent person, however you are not the most kind person i've run across. That's ok i'm not saying you have to be kind but i do believe kindess is an admirable virtue. I know you are retired and get a kick out of entertaining yourself by hacking others off on the internet but i'd like to understand your true beliefs beyond entertainment purposes.

Personal beliefs have no bearing on what is true and factual. An individual either understands the process of evaluating evidence and confirming it or he does not. When facts are well supported by abundant evidence, to believe otherwise can lead sane people to only one conclusion -- that the believer in myths is somehow unable (or worse unwilling) to assess the evidence.

There are no gods, no devils, no heaven nor hell. Those are only figments of our magnificent human imaginations -- just like Santa Claus, Easter Bunnies, boogeymen and fire-breathing dragons. They were imagined into 'existence' by understandably frightened or confused early humans, for no other reason than to furnish comforting (therefore popular, though incorrect) explanations for random misfortunes -- and other mysteries undefined or misunderstood.

Today's frightened or confused humans are no different -- but the knowledge- rich environment we now live in renders belief in nonsense unacceptable.
I think you are a very intelligent person
Thank you. You clearly are as well -- which presents a great puzzle to those like me, since a large percentage of Fable Thumpers also appear intelligent yet still believe in Santa Claus et al.
you are not the most kind person i've run across.
Also true, and it comes down to this simple fact -- tolerance of foolishness is among the most dangerous traits a humans can have. Brutal honest works best in my world. I'd rather piss people off while getting accurate information out than tolerate endless BS. Apathy is a slow, silent killer.
