Barry:

Mojave is right, dry brushing is the way to go. Sorry for not responding sooner. I have been consumed at work (12 to 14 hour days this week) with the start of the new school year.

Richard

Is it just me, I thought all Helicopters flew in 3D......Hmmmm?

I didn't get much opportunity to work on the 47 this weekend as the wife had 90% of it planned. But, I did get the belts, com cords, pilots collective and throttle lever, and the fire extinguisher made and installed. Here are some pics.

The first thing I did was to get an old CO2 cartridge and cut the end off to get the right length. Then by adding bits of aluminum tube and styrene plastic by evergreen I created this fire extinguisher. Next, I down loaded a couple of appropriate images from the web to make the tag and bottle info. This complete process took about 40 minutes.

These pics show the painted extinguisher with an addition of a wash of black and dry brushed alumunum paint, gauge and tags applied and last, the mount pin with some copper break away safety wire. Perfect 1/4 scale size! Total time not including paint dry time 1 hour and 15 minutes. The best part....total cost about 10 cents worth of stuff and some time. That is a lot better than 20 to 30 dollars for a pre-made one.

In these pics you can see the installed belts, com cords, and collective lever.

that's all for now.

Very sorry to hear that... This is hands down one of the nicest 47's that I have ever seen.
Barry

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!
