Nice Looking Field!!

I only wonder how many heli's have been lost until harvest and then gobbled by a BIG John Deere Harvester in that wonderful corn field?

Thanks for sharing..

kinda looks like the scene in Field of Dreams doesn't it??
Cornstalks and aircraft are usually pretty incompatible.
Especially planks.

Quite the opposite, if someone does happen to crash into the corn or beans, the airplane doesnt get hurt whatsoever. We havent had a helicopter go into the corn yet but the same thing would happen, its just a big cushion. The guy that harvests the corn looks for airplanes when he combines and if he finds any he lets the club know. Hes very good at finding them, and we have friends at a local airfield that swing by with their airplanes to help locate them. Usually we talk back and forth with 2 way radios.

Our field doesnt look all that big in the picture but the corn is actually back pretty far

hmmmm...

I've seen corn fields literally destroy airplanes on many occasions over 35 years in the hobby. No real experience with helis & corn.
No corn in florida and I wasn't flying helis when I was young and in Michigan. Beans fields on the other hand are like gods little pillows though!!!

Probabley one of the nicest small club fields in the Tri State

Yup that photo sure does make it look small - here,s a few different views at different seasons. I kinda think it's too wide.

When some of the guy's go to a more typical field found here in the Mid West it's a bit difficult for em.

Bean's and corn can be a hex and also a blessing at times. The beans are great if you got to flop one in to save it, or your testing a wild one.

The corn can be a real pain as when they go in you either half to look up, cause their 13' foot in the air, or they have dropped and you almost got to be on top of it. Worst part it's easy to get lost in their !

plus a big bird - like a 30 or 40%'er, is heavy enough to penetrate down to the stalks and it just rips everything out of 'em. My dads buddy just lost a brand new HUGE p-38 to a faulty linkage on takeoff and could slow it down in time and stuffed it almost full throttle into the corn field. Totaled it. Several thousand dollars later....

I've seen corn stalks destroy .40 to .60 sized planes. Never seen a heli hit one though. Good thing is that the corn is only tall for a few months of the year. The rest of the time it is just dirt.
