I finally after near a year had a successful flight (or hover with out breaking anything). I was not nervous at all(i guess it was that nerve pill i took before flight lol) i lifted it up and it wanted to turn nose left and pitch forward, so i landed and added more gain and trimmed the elevator and it would hover almost hands off,if the wind hand not been blowing i think it would have. I've been reading how much vibration the G260 has will let me tell you i could have set a full glass of wine on the tail boom and i would have not spilled a bit. I still can't believe how smooth it was i can't stress it enough it was dead calm NO vibration. I'm still running the 645 carb that came wit the motor and i did not touch a setting and after about 5-8 pulls it was running good. As soon as i figured out where to put the trim it purred like a kitten. I've read a lot of post telling me not to run the stock black can pipe but it was not that loud at all. I just have to say thank you Raja, jrockstuart and others hat helped me thru this project I'm as happy as i was when i figured out what my wiener was really used for. I would also like to thank God for helping be out maybe he is lifting the black cloud i've had over my head for some time.I just can't beleive how smooth it really is i bought a 643 carb to go on it but if it keeps running good with this one i'm going to keep it. I put about 20%expo in it and that seems about right. I have not cut the canopy yet as i don't know what muffler i'm going to use not only that i'm flat broke. I wanted to paint the canopy but i don't have the money so i might just use the stickers for now. I have a friend that has a body shop and i'm going to see if i can get some left over pint and come up with something. He paint big rigs so he should have some paint left over. I'm not trying to win a show i just want some orange on it and yellow so it will still out. I stopped flying after about ten minutes and emptyed the fuel tank so i can go over all the bolts before i try to fly it again. After the first crank it would crank everytime on the first pull. I have a multigov mounted on it and as far as i know i will be the only one to try it but i know it will work. I get a 100% reading every pull with the multigov with the sensor mount close to the crank case. I have it off in normal mode so i can finish breaking in the motor i'm rnning 5oz to the gal of coleman fuel.

If anyone has any stories about how theres is running let here it? I'm running Lawnboy ashless oil at 5oz to the the gal,and it seems to run great. I'm going to run Amsoil 100:1 mix when the motor is broke in i will proally run 50:1 to 1 whn i switch over.

Thank god for a good flight

Thanks for all the help guys

GLAD to hear it!

Got your most recent PM but I don't have time to answer it in detail now, will check on it later when I get the chance.

The Spectra is a really nice machine, you've already seen that but as time goes on you'll know it more and more and it will become your #1 ship!

Like i said before thanks Raja for taking so much time on the phone to help me on the pushrod.Like i said before its smooth as silt,it did not any vibration that i could see and i did not even balance the head or tail. I do need to put it in normal mode and try to get the gyro holding better,or get the mecanicans setup better. I did not have a chance to try out the multigov but i know it will work. Bob sold me two of them for a steal so i cant complain and he even said he was not sure if it would work on the gasser, but i told him i was getting a 100% sensor reading and he said it should work. If i have a problem with it working i will drill a hole thru the case and get the sensor closer to the magnet. From all the reading i will be the first to get the multigov to work on a gasser. Fixit hos your Trex gasser coming along?

Thanks for all the help i hope to try it again tomorrow.

smallplanes has meticulously built his Spectra G and reaped the rewards of his labour on the maiden flight so if he couldn’t get the Bat to fly I wouldn’t want it.

Yes i took my time a read and reread and reread and reread the instructions and talked to Raja for hours and he helped me alot and i still want to thank him and i would like to thank jrockstuart for his help and others that helped me. This is how a new heli is suppose to fly great right off the BAT. All i can tell you people out there is study hard on what heli you buy before you buy it it means everything.

There one more question i need to know before i fly it to much,is whats the best way to pin the boom so it does not slide out? I was going to drill and tap a hole thru the side of the heli and tap and screw a bolt in Thru the side of the carbon into the metal boom, the only thing that worrys me is the metal chips failing in the boom and getting into the tail drive rod. Should i take the boom out a dump the chips out?

Thanks
Ivan

Pleased to hear your maiden flight went well, good news on the vibe front too.Are you using a standard or Hanson 26cc motor?

I'm using a stock converted EI motor to a coil and flywheel off a g26 and it runs very smooth. Everyone keep telling me it would have a lot of vibration in it being stock, well i just want to say that there wrong. It ran smooth as silt. My pull start i made also worked very good it only takes a little pull and it fires.

Thanks
Ivan

You're scaring me this...

I'm using a stock converted EI motor to a coil and flywheel off a g26
Is that like a stock G26 motor that was EI and you made it a magneto motor? Is the crankshaft different on those and made to balance with the piston weight? I don't know but the standard G26's had the same crankshaft weight as a G231 and the 26 with the heavier piston shook.

Edit: Let me add this -=> If your engine is shaking the heli alot, one of your links COULD pop off in flight and that will be a disaster. You might want to trap them as insurance to prevent this from happening. Pics are in my gallery.

You might not see it but if your boom is sliding out that is a good indication. I never pin my boom and it never slides out. I just gorilla tighten the 4 screws holding the boom clamp and tighten the horizontal fin clamp and I've never had an issue. I heard some people had problems probably due to shaky models, and they solved it by drilled the boom clamp through the boom and putting a machine screw in it.

I've love to stay and chat all day, but this is my flying time so I'm going to the field. Some friends are bringing a BBQ today so we'll be there all day until dusk!

Yes the motor i'm using was a G260EI and i took parts off a G26 and put on the stock G260 and it runs very smooth so i don't think i have anything to worry about. I will post pics of it flying later.

Thanks

I put thin CA between the plastic boom block clamp and the boom itself. I figure if I trash the boom, I might as well just replace the cheap plastic clamp too. You could do this too, and if you're careful, then you won't get any CA on anything else. Then you'll want to put some nail polish over the joint between the boom and the boom block. If you notice any movement of the nail polish relative to the boom, then you'll need to pin it.
