I have now got a the new outrage 50 which i was so glad about. Its the second batch with the updated bits on it. My problem is i have a very bad tail wag. Now to the present time we have tried almost every thing to solve it. Now when i got the i took all the elecs out of my 600 and put them in the velocity. I done this as i flew the 600 and every thing was really working well and i though that i know all the stuff is good so i don't have to worry about that. I also used the engine from it as it was running on song and has never failed on me but i thought it needed new bearings. So i stripped that down and found that the piston ring had broken up a little and one part of it was down the side of the piston which made a nice groove in the piston and marked the liner.

Luckly enough i have almost a complete engine in spears for a previous dead one so i changed the piston put a diffrent liner in and new ring. When we first started the engine it was very very tight and but seems to have lossened off now but does have a dry sound to it.

Now can a servo or gyro problem cause a slow wag or would you say there is more of a issue with the engine?? Now i have a new liner piston and ring on there way and also should receive some more new bearings at the same time.

I ask the question of the servo or the gyro being at fault as i have seen both of these issues at one time or another but i found the if the servo has gone then you find the you would be doing a pie dish or some thing and the tail would step out. And if the gyro was wrong then it just goes mental, Can any one comfirm these finding??

Thanks for you time guys, I really just want to be able to fly it around and see how good it is compaired to what people say it is.

More info please. We need to know what you have tried to fix it. Where is the gyro mounted. IMO I think your gains are to high. Now
when i got the i took all the elecs out of my 600 and put them in the velocity. I done this as i flew the 600 and every thing was really working well and i though that i know all the stuff is good so i don't have to worry about that.
I did the same thing and had the same problem as you it was my gains. Hope this helps.

ok i am running a spartan gyro and a s9254. My gyro is mounted on the tail boom case. we have tried different blades and tails. we move the ball link on the servo in and out. rebuilt the complete tail box and grips. we tried all different gain settings from 5% to 70% the wag looks like it doesn't have enough gain on the gyro as it is quite a lazy wag but constant.

Could be engine related. If it's not properly tuned and running a bit ruff it could cause the gyro to act up. I'd rebuild it like you seem to be doing and do a good break-in procses and get it in tune and see how things go from their. I've had tail issue's like that before and seen it with other's and with some fine tuning and such they went away.

Also if the bearing in the engine was going out it could send a bad vibration through the heli and cause the gyro to act up.

What kind of gyro tape are you using?

i use the spartan pads and plate in the config of bottom one is thick then the plate then a slim one on top. As for engine i think i will send the liner and bits back and just get a new one to replace it with that wat i know it will be good

My Spartan is mounted up front between the frames. I am using an 8900 with it with 50% gain and it is rock solid. I did a tail slide from 150 ft. or so today and the tail held extremely well.

Your servo may be going bad. Try another tail servo.

I have my Spartain on the back and no issues...

Check to make sure you don't have any binding in he tail pushrods and they are not really tight on the balls.

Check the bearings in the Tail pulley thing (sorry too lazy to get the book for the correct name)
Mine has about 15 flights and it started wagging and the bearings are loose. I have a decent amount of play. Im ordering new bearings tomorrow

Mine is doing the same, have a new 770 and 8900 in it, and new redline, Engine has been run in and runs smooth, so far I have replaced the gyro, moved it front the back up to the front, pulled tail down and checked it, checked out rotor head, changed linkage set up, everything and I cant sort it, Still have to get the heli out of a hover as the wag is bad enougth to stop it doing any more, low gain, slow large wag, high gain, typical fast tail wag, its giving me da ****s, all I can think of now is to check were the torque tube bearings are sitting, maybe the tubes flexing and causing a vibration, but I cant feel or see any in the heli. This one has me stuffed.

if ya not crashen you aint tryin

All my experience with 770's on Outrage helis (550 mainly) we had to reduce tail blade size. try 92mm or less tail blades

I was thinking that, will give it ago, but usually with the 770 you can still get it to hold in a hover at low head speeds, but only one way to find ou tso will change it and see.

pop the tail link off and make sure the tail is silk smooth through out.

sometimes you have to ajust the tail box, it is ajustable, like everything else on this heli.

so put that on your check list, my heli rocks with the spartan and the bls 251.

i had mine really smooth and i guess i did not get it tight anuff and the main two bolts that mounts the slider on got cocked a hair and made it stick.
