Is the 3900 as good as the 3600 which some people are using? It seems the 3900 is made for the 250, yet the 3600 has more power (according to the specs)

me and a friend setup our 250's excactly the same. I have the 3900 and he has the 3600,we used the same packs on the birds and came to the conclusion that the 3900 has more torque

I wonder how much the 3900 would bog with a 16T pinion?

Why would you want to use a 16t? That would be an insane headspeed and probably reduce your flight time to around 4 mins and possibably heat things up a bit

I only get 4 minutes out of my 450, but it has a lot of performance so that makes me happy.

do you own a 250? Because if not, you would probably be happy with less. stock with a 16t is faster than a 450. with my setup, you probably would want to tone it down a bit!

I am building a 250 now, but I have never flown one before nor have I seen one fly in person. I would like the performance to be as close to my 450Pro as possible--or maybe better?

On my 450, I have a Scorpion HK-2221-6 (4400kv) motor with a 12T pinion in it. I run down 2200mAh 30C batteries in 4 minutes running around 3100rpm head speed. The helicopter is extremely fast and I am very happy with the performance.

Do you think the 15T pinion on the 3900 Scorpion motor will give me something similar on the 250?

I run +12/-12 pitch, cyclics maxed without binding, 205d blades and outrage paddles from helidirect.com on a 15t pinion and you will have a grin on your face for 4:30 that you can't wipe off!

Why is the larger pinion put on the higher kv motor? It seems like you would want the larger pinion on the lower kv motor and the smaller pinion on the high kv motor.

The larger pinion on the larger kV motor = faster headspeed up to the point that you either overheat your motor, overheat you ESC, or overload your battery.

I just installed the 3900 scorpion with a 14 tooth pinion at 100%. Seems like a little more headspeed than stock on 15 tooth at 100%. The torque is much better. The head speed stays constant and the heli just pulls better through maneuvers.

All with the stock esc.

Well worth the money.
