Hello!
I'm starting to tune my engines myself now, i understand the basic concepts and all that. As of now i have my engine running cool, its holding headspeed at full collective and is performing better than ever. I've been adjusting the high end needle, and now it's time to start the mid range needle. Right now it's holding up great, its running at 1950 headspeed with the Algin pipe at an 8.20 gear ratio, when i do tic tocs it starts to bog, so i need to be really easy on the collective, i have great collective management, so i can figure it's not a problem on my end.

My set up:
Trex 700 8.20 gear ratio
O.S 91 HZ Non PS, Align 90 pipe
30% nitro
1950 headspeed
Radix 690 blades weighing in at 185 grams
Rotor tech paddles at 20 grams The airfoil is very thin but the paddle is longer than most others.

I'm going to try the Radix paddles tommorow to see if its the paddles that are causing the problem, but as of now any tuning tips would be great.

I had this problem as well but some guys taught me how to tune a lot better at IRCHA. If you're bogging during tic tocs but your high end is producing good power, you need to adjust the mid needle. If it's producing good smoke and bogging during tic tocs (or continuous transition maneuvers), you need to lean it out. If the smoke disappears during these maneuvers, you need to richen it. This is what I was taught and it's worked out pretty well for me so far. Hope this helps.

...now where was I, dh/dt = BS-dx/dt

I went thru the same thing when learning 3 needle carb.If you are happy with your high end, doing a continous string of aileron tick tocks, with that motor it should almost be unboggable. Keep leaning out a tad at a time until the power is there. I get it where I think it is producing good power and do about 10 tick tocks and hit throttle hold immediatly so I can check temp as a reference. I am usually right around 210-220. That motor is seriously a monster!! I bought mine brand new and it gets better every gallon and I am about a couple cases in!
