Hi guys, been thinking about a vibe 50 lately. Can i hear some opinions on how they have been going so far? Is there anything in the kit that you would change before building? Is it heavy, does it flip straight? Is it reliable etc. And most of all, is it dear to crash compared to other 50 size helis?

thanks,
Paul

Sick! I agree with not using the tail blades that come with the kit. Also try replace the clunk line with some Heyes, mine perished after 40 flights.

Get one you won't regret it!

Great heli. Very pleased with mine. I actually like it better than my N9. It tracks well even in windy conditions. It does hold your setup quite well, so do it right and you'll get your straight flips. Very reliable. I had a spindle that had not been threaded on one side. I called Horizon and they sent a replacement right away.

Yes the T/R blades are bad. Only good for letter opening or epoxy stirrers.

I love mine. I flew a TRex 700 the other day and I like the Vibe 50 better.

Things you'll need:
Tailblades - recommend KBDD

Paddles - if you like really fast cyclic get KBDD or Stubz 393 paddles.

Dampers - Stock wear out after 50 flights. Hyper dampers will last 150 flights. You'll need to change uyp some spacers to make them work... contact me for info if you go that way.

Ball links - you'll need a reamer. Get some extra links and practice a bit so you know how to get the perfect fit. These links ROCK. They hardly ever wear, and they are adjustable. If they start getting loose you can actually tighten them back up!!!!

The bearing on the TT fit loose in the bearing holder... one or two wraps of electrical tape on the outside of the bearing fixes it.

Governor mount - use the built in one. It goes ABOVE the clutch bell and you can drop your motor without messing with governor adjustments. In fact, you can drop your motor w/o taking ANYTHING else apart.

Other that, mine is bone stock. You can great Fusuno canopies for $65. I love mine. The swash is really nice... better than the QUK one I had on my TRex. There really is nothing to replace... stock is awesome. I put a stock Vibe head on my TRex now... fixed it right up!

I have 80 flights and I haven't had to tighten anything other than after the first flight or two.

Crash cost... never crashed it. But... frames are $50 for the full set, grips are $7... right there that's like $100 cheaper than a TRex. Just depends what else breaks. Some parts prices are a bit higher, but the quality is 10x TRex quality.

You'll love this thing.

I loved the way my vibe flew..very stable, and FAST!! the quality is second to none.

Ok..the crash durability SUCKS!!! thankfully parts are cheap..cause I need alot of them..my previous t600 would've had 1/2 the damage. I have NEVER seen a bent main shaft this bad..how'd i crash, it landed on the landing gear, right near the fuel tank. Blown frames, bottom plate, and several links..

I love it! you can see hear and feel just how smoth it is. But you should build it with care, if you dont align the motor or adjust the gearmesh you will get problems. Best heli I have flown. Regards Pete

Oh yeah I forgot. When I finally crashed it because of dumb thumbs, I had to replace a lot bearings. A lot and many other parts so I just bought a new kit. It will be almost $375 to replace the parts to make a complete kit.

You'll love it! Just take you time setting up the drive train and engine. Review barracuda's review on RCU. Good tips.
