I'm ready to get the 500 and I'm down to deciding which charger to get. Right now I have an old Triton so it's out. I need to figure out which charger will do the job right. I know I do not plan on going any bigger than a T Rex 500 w/6S batteries.

Would this be a decent charger?

Any help here is really appreciated....Thanks.

I would say the Hyperion for sure. But I futher reccomend the below one. A bit more money, but well worth it. You can charge 2 at once, plus if you ever end up going 8S or 10S you can charge 2 4S or 5S in series as one lipo.

I was hoping not to have to spend $300 on a charger but then I know you get what you pay for. I'm just not sure how long I'm going to stay into the electric helis.
Up until now I've been all nitro. I tried a friends 450SE for a few flights but that really can't count. I'm going for a T Rex 500 and I don't know if I'm going to like working with batteries as a power source. The fuel engines are a big part of what draws me to the helis.
If the stock 500 kit had a 37 or a 40, or a 50 in it I'd have one already.

I said to myself for a while that I'll never go bigger than 6S, then I got a Knight 600E and run 8S. If you think you'll NEVER go larger, then get the smaller one. If you have a few packs you'll be charging for a while with that smaller Hyperion, the Duo will charge quicker as well.

*One other important factor is a power supply. For the smaller Hyperion you originally linked to, it comes with a plug installed that plugs into any outlet. The Duo needs a power supply.

There are always used ones for sale here on RR, either way you go.

Remind me again why the 1010 is better than the Hyperion Duo?

My next charger will be one of those Turnigy ones on the front page of HK website for $37. (I may fork out and spend the extra few dollars on the next model up)

After buying and loving the Flightmax (Turnigy) lipos and seeing they are identical or better than the Outrage packs, I wouldn't doubt that the Hobby City chargers are equally as good.

i was asking about recommendations on an inexpensive charger that will handle 2 packs at a time for the 500.

i have a hobbico field charger that will do 2 at a time for my 450 but won't work for 5s and up.

Try two of these

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...SA_Warehouse%29

I use the 150 Watt version, http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...lancer/Charger, but I also need a second one now. I thought I might add the smaller one to my next order.

Bill, stick with the Turnigy 150W if you go for a second one. Charging a 6S pack, you'll find that a 50W charger will limit at about 2.6 amps max and you'll extend charging times quite a bit.

That Turnigy 150W charger is great, inexpensive, and does every bit as good a job as my Hyperion charger at a fraction of the price.

I have a Triton EQ AC/DC and a Turnigy Accucell 6.

Both are pretty cheap and work really well for 6S.

I use a small Pyramid power supply for the A6.

I literally never use the word literally right.

I have the CellPro 10s which can be used for the 500 and larger helicopters like my 8s 600. If you ever think that you will get a larger helicopter it’s good to get a charger that will do more than 6s.

CellPro makes several chargers, power supplies, and package deals so check them out. They also have excellent customer service. If you go with a Chinese charger it will take many months to get it repaired.

I know FMA has excellent CS. I used to have one of the Super Nova chargers a few years ago and had dealings with FMA. I forgot about that until now.....
