I fly a MA Fury controlled by 12Z used to be 9Z but switched up. The 9Z was a little complicated to program at the best of times. I consider myself an intermediate flyer - no 3D just yet. The gyro and servo combo always worked properly in the past. The last few flights, on spool up and hover, the tail becomes very twitchy - twitches mostly to the right(CW)about 8-10inches then stops - almost like the tail is hunting. At one point gyro wouldn't hold and the helicopter began doing "stop and go" piro's. Its always held in the tail in the past.

Has anybody else had problems like this. Any advice/help would be appreciated.

First item on your checklist should be the servo. Though my 9254's have worked flawlessly for years, there have been quite a few posts about 9254's puling their guts out, or at least dying a slow death. Symptoms sound similar to yours.

The second thing to check would be the soundness of the foam mounting tape. That stuff tends to fall apart after awhile and if the gyro's no longer held to the frame well, then you get weird tail response.

Unless you whack 'em good and hard, the gyro tends to just work and work and work and....

Problem Solved

DKSHEMA,

Thanks for the reply. I did do a lot of reading regarding the 9254 servo's, however I figured that mine being less than a year old and having probably less than 15 flights on it, there must be another problem.

I did swap out the servo with another 9254 that I had, and voila!!! - it worked. What is the problem with these 9254's. At $140.00 Canadian, I can't afford to swap one out every few months.

I'll be sending this one back to the Futaba Service Centre and see what they say.
