My Posts This: Topic Forum You are correct in saying that the manual doesn't say to turn the engine over for 30 secs to build pressure. Really think about it this way.
The reason your engine is flaming out on spool up and you know the hover needle isn't too rich then the problem is you have your idle needle too lean.
What happens is the engine is idling and when you spool up it gets a excessive shot of cold fuel when it starts to go on the hover needle.
So if you richen the idle needle and adjust your idle trim to give a reliable idle at the new richer setting then when you go to spool up and the carb starts to go to the hover needle you won't have such a difference in mixture between the idle and hover.
The engine will spool up more consistently.

My Posts This: Topic Forum Hey Guys,

Between family emergencies I finally got time to go play again.

Long story short, Goerge Matthes, Ghostrider and Airdodger nailed it. My idle needle was too lean, even though it idled perfectly and passed the "pinch and count to 10 test".

The fix was to richen the idle needle nearly a 1/4 turn and add 12 clicks of throttle servo trim. Surprisingly, this resulted in the same idle RPM as I had before the adjustment, with similar results to the "pinch and count to 10 test" The difference was it spooled up while cold without issue! Now that's change I can believe in
