Hi

The Jesus bold holding the head onto the main shaft is threaded into the hub. In a crash if the Jesus bolt breaks you will have difficulties removing the bolt as its threaded.

Why not just use a bolt with lock nut?

Regards

If it ain't broke then break it.

Can you not just fit a longer bolt with a locknut? If you do shear it off you then will have screw sticking out to remove it. Have you ever sheared a Jesus bolt? Must be a heck of a crash!

I had one shear of just checking the head I think I will run a bolt all the way through and put a nut on it.I'm not sure why they did it this way?

Why have a bult with nut this will not be stronger as it is same thickness I dont think anyone had the screw vibration out.
My bolt went off in a crash after hard work I get it out.
I now have bought another hardened boult I dont know if this boult is harder the future will tell.

I had two of them break on me but not from crash. I was using a normal all threaded bolt and I learned later that it needs to be a shoulder bolt. I put the right one in and it has never sheared off again.

When I sheared one I was able to use a tiny drill bit and drill it once the bit grabs it bolt spins out the rest of the way thru head. This does not happen often . Also when you crash know when to give up and hit throttle hold it will save you lots of money and frustration..

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

If it shears and gets stuck, the Jesus bolt becomes a Jesus Christ bolt. Sorry, just had to a wise crack.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?
