I see on TV,, that,, (while in a hover) as they go to hook-up to something large to lift (like a Hummer or small Plane), those blades create so much Static Electricity they have to Ground the heli with a Cable right before they hook-up..

When I crewed on Chinooks we called it "the hand of god". When a grunt would hesitate or screw up while hooking up a load, the crew chief would reach out and point a finger at them. An arc of electricity would shoot out of the finger like a foot long and pop the snout out of the grunt. No worries, I've been on the receiving end of the shock too. It is hilarious, to see a blue, green or yellow spark coming out of your finger. And watching some dufus quiver in pain. All for fun of course.

How can I get my Raptor to do that?

Ask your doctor if your heart is healthy enough for Radio Control Helicoptering.

A beautiful (sad) story for a beautiful phenomenon - the name sounds cool as well.
I suppose it's not unlike "St. Elmo's Fire"
