Hi Everyone

I have a futaba 8 channel receiver, and have only 7 ports on it. If I need all 8 channels, can I use a y adapter to connect to the last port? How will the radio know to differentiate what side of the y harness belongs to channel 7, and what belongs to channel 8

Thanks for the help
Andy

The 8 channel receievers have 8 ports.

You can Y one of the servos with a battery.

What model number reciever is it?

8 channel receivers should actually have 9 ports since 1 would be for the battery

I know some lower end recievers do not have a battery port. They require you to use a y harness for power. The Hitec electron 6 comes to mind.

If it has 7 ports, it is 6 or 7 channels at the most.

This is a futaba 608FS

Hi Everyone

This is a 2.4 608 receiver. It does have 8 ports, but one is designated for the battery. Can I simply use the battery port as my eighth channel? How would I assign it as such ? Do I just plug the eight wire into battery?

Thanks so much again

Yep it probably says 8/B

If you're running an electric and its getting its power from the ESC then just plug in the servo for channel 8, you don't have to asign anything.

If you're using all your slots then just throw a Y harness into the gyro gain channel and plug the gain into one and the battery into another.

The FS608 has 8 channels plus the battery port. So you don't need a Y connection.

608

This 608 has 7 plus the battery port for a total of 8.

So do you recommend that I simply put battery on gain using a Y harness. How would I assign gain to battery ? Is there an option to do that with a 12FG?

Thanks again

Again, you don't have to assign anything.

All of the positive pins are wired together, all of the grounds are wired together in whats called a power bus. You can plug power into, or take power from any of the pins on the bus.

The white wire is the signal wire, if something is connected there it sends the servo position information, if there's nothing connected there (batteries only have two wires, red and black) then it ignores it. Even batteries with 3 wires, the signal wire isn't hooked up to anything.

The one exception is the spekrum switch harnesses that are used to bind the DSM receivers, they use all 3 wires. Most other switches only have the red and black wires as well.

I think I have it figured out

Just have one question that will clear things up for me. I am going to use my 8th channel in the battery slot of the receiver. How do I assign the radio to know that the battery slot is where the last channel is going to be on

Thanks again !

The radio does not need to know where the battery is. Once you plug the battery to any slot, you'll get power.

It looks like to me that you may have a port that is sidways at the bottom...

Does this picture match your receiver?
