The motor in my blade is the 420 /3800kv.First question is,how many amps dose the motor draw at full speed? If they are saying 30 something amps, I can't see it. A 120volt 1/2 hourse power only draws about 5 amps. Next what kind of switch and were is the best location to put the switch.Ill proubly get it from radio shack.I think under the Front legs.Tks

Believe it.

You do not want a pwr switch in there to shut off the juice, it will burn the contacts.

Just connect the battery directly to the esc each time.

Thats the ticket.

Power= volts x amps

Your half horsepower motor at 120 volts and 5 amps produces 600 watts of power.

The heli pulls 30 amps at (i think)3.7 volts = 111 watts

The amps thing was confusing me a little too, being used to working with small amps in house currents. These draw much more amps because the voltage is so low.

Blade /motor

well 21L its hard to figure,but you are correct,ohms law.**** that is size 12 wire. for that small motor.I didn't look for a mircro switch for 30 amps yet.oh well. if no switch, im going to run the plug somewhere else and extend the wires for the charger so that I don't have to take off the canopy. Thats a pain.

Like JRJoe said.. Make yourself a set-up like this.

I've been thinking of doing this, but I just plug my battery into the ESC when I'm ready to fly like Gyronut posted.

This kind of setup would be handy on a large plank where the battery is located inside the fuselage.

Here is a chart showing a trex 450 current draw, just hoovering. 18 amps.
18 amps X 11 volts = 198 watts

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?
