BAT

No but given Align,s resources i bet they are in with a good chance, the quality of their Heli collection seems to improve all the time.Have never really been into Align Helicopters but they must be the market leader now i would have thought for nitro heli,s.

For me it's the spares availabilty that swings me to Align. Never had a problem with the quality although I do agree their quality is improving while their pricing appears to be static.
might even be a screamer closer to a nitro
I hope not.

Align helicopters

I cant say in all honesty i know much about Align helicopters at all,but i thought they might have had quality issues in the past from comments i have read, although the ones i have looked at looked fine to me.The new gasser "screamer "comment i meant that it would make it more attractive to present nitro owners if it had a very good power to weight ratio and the fuel cost of gas.I wondered if the motor would be smaller because of the vibration issues associated with the standard 26cc motors.Vibes can kill everything on your gasser pretty quickly, not so good if you have very expensive electronics not to mention the mechanical stress.

Align do have more issues reported than most but you have to remember they sell many times the kits than most manufactures put together would. Therefore, more pilots to complain about them.

I hear what your saying about the Zenoah 26cc having vib problems but what about other manufactures 26cc engines?

Good points

Very true,on both counts. There might be a real smooth out of the box 26cc somewhere.

I doubt their engine will be really smooth, and I think it will take awhile until the Align engineers figure out how to keep parts from failing on the helicopter, but the fact that Align is releasing a gasser is great in my opinion.

The motor crankcase looks small and it's an EI ignition. Does that mean there is either a small or non exsistent flywheel in there?
If so I would be abit worried about vibrations.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

No, they also need a Trex 150 or Trex 100 for doing 3D in your living room.

Great News

If Align releases a 700G much of the pain currently associated with gassers will be gone. In my opinion, Align's quality is far superior than the gasser kits available to date.
I'm looking forward for this release, funds on hold for it already

I'm not sure if the quality of the Align gasser will be better than the Spectra, but I'm quite sure the design will be much better. Miniature uses so many standoffs and spacers and adapters that it makes the parts count of an MA heli 10X that of a comparable Align kit.

There's an awful lot more align can, and probably will, do with their range...
a 30 size, the 500 as a nitro, a flybarless optional range with their own branded electronics, going even bigger into the 800+ blade size, even perhaps a contra-rotating range...

While Align can be criticised for their lack of direct customer service they do respond indirectly by making adaptations and changes to the model. They also keep spares simple..buy a boom pair and it comes with a servo rod, link and guides, forexample. OK some of that is unnecessary but they keep the cost competative on spares and you end up with parts that can be used elsewhere. With minair you almost have to buy each washer separately....let alone the price.
Something as simple as a boom support stay comes ready to bolt on pair from align...not buy each end piece and an overpriced carbon rod as individual items.

This is the same sort of busines model that gave japanese cars supremacy, took over the TV and radio manufacturing.. and will continue to erode western manufacturing.

+1 on those thoughts,if ever the Chinese and host of other Asian countries become as successfull as the Japanese with their business models(and they will, because they are hungry for it)look out the workers of the west,no matter what field you are in.I think they have realised the way to become dominant is through commerce and not bombs and bullets. The next 20 years is going to be interesting for us all.Who would take bets on whether Align will be one of the sole survivors in the future Rc market?Unless MA amongst others, start paying Chinese wages(if they are not outsourcing already)they will have a tough time in future maybe not directly but watch over the next few years. They will probably have to have an Asian division even to surviveHow many people do you already know who have or are about to lose jobs through factories switching production overseas,it is happening wholesale here).

I think they have realised the way to become dominant is through commerce and not bombs and bullets.
In 1952 when Japan was allowed to regain its indepedence (following post WWII US occupation) and draft a new constitution, one of the articles specifically stated that "Japan shall have no standing army nor be permitted to wage war." It didn't take the Japanese long to overtake the US car market, and soon do the same in every other market. Such rapid progress makes sense. During the last 60 or so years, Japan has spent approximately 0% of its tax income on defense. By contrast, the United States spends roughly 21% of its tax revenue on defense. This equates to about $500 billion dollars a year or about 5% of of the US GDP. US defense spending is approximately 8x that of China.

Could you image what kind of progress the US and GB could have achieved in the last 8 years if we had taken all of the money spent on the war in Iraq and invested it in paying US researchers to develop new technologies which would allow us to gain energy independence? Then we wouldn't be spending all of our money either buying foreign oil or fighting wars so that we can buy more foreign oil.

Just go to any university and look at the PhD programs. The majority of students there are from foreign countries. Japan, China, and now India. Why is this? Because the majority of people from these countries are tired of living in poverty and are willing to fight tooth and nail to climb their way up the socioeconomic ladder. The west has enjoyed a free ride for such a long time that the kids these days no longer find it necessary to learn math or science. They would rather devote their time to learning how to play basketball or practice rap music. The US scientists who guided multistage rockets to the moon using graph paper and slide rules do not exists anymore in the West.

A company who's sole design team consist of Bob Bice and Tim Schoonard will never compete with Align whose design team consists of countless engineers who at 9 years old, while US children were playing Nintendo, were learning how to do CAD design.

They've got us beat, and during the next 20 years China will consume the last remaining vestages of our decadent Western supremacy by buying up our debt to finance our purchase of foreign oil. But the time will come when this debt will become due, and then we'll be lucky to be shopkeepers. I think instead we will be the ones in the factories making low quality swashplates and speaking Chinese.

Now, when can I order my 700G?

Well Said

Thing that always gets me is when it comes to the people that hold all the money,if there was a choice between patriotism and money i ask myself which would win?Present times tell me the answer. Will the big Corporations act for the good of the respective countries or get cheaper production overseas? What do you "really" think? My rant over, back on topic
