I believe it's just an EU thing (at the moment). What pi$$es me off is that I can't find a suitable replacement bulb for my dimmers. Unless I pay over the odss !!

Yea - I just found out recently that I can no longer buy 85W flood light bulbs for the high hats in my living room. The dimmable CF replacements are signficantly more expensive.

Forget the LED floods - they are like $70.00 each.

The market will likely choose LED technology anyway as the price and performance becomes more acceptable. This political effort is just a group of pandering politicians pretending they are saving the world by jumping in front of a trend that has little to do with them and claiming credit for it. If incandescent light bulbs surge in popularity it will be a result of backlash against these political hacks for rubbing people the wrong way with their constant and needless intervention.

Yeah, that´s the way it´s going to be.

I have a small hardware store in Spain and as long as the supplier has 100W bulbs i´ll be able to get them, no more production.

Of course 100w bulbs have suddenly increased in price, wonder why.

Yup, most of my lighting is currently dimmable. Although I appreciate the merrits of the governing aspirations, I can't help but believe that the whole debacle is purely based around powermongering for the apparent better good of plano-humanatarian needs as a fiscal advantage over the simple needs for illumination in the dark hours.
So sadly, this is a negatively allured con for which we have no way out
I really like incandescent lighting as it helps in keeping you warm in the winter months.

I have nothing but CFL bulbs in my house, I like them just fine. The main reason I use them is because they last. I got sick of replacing incandescent bulbs. I finally had a CFL I have had for going on 8 years give out. You do have to get the ones that have a warm glow, the light is just like incandescent. You do have that warmup period, but it doesn't bother me, I rarely even notice it.

And yes, it does make a difference on the electric bill.

When they perfect LED and have it give a good quality/warmth of light, I will buy them too.

We have CFLs in every thing in our house and the only thing we have a small bit of trouble with is when it gets really cold out the ones in the garage and outside the porch don't like it.
