Hello all Aeolus 50 3D pilots

Just wanted to post pics of my first broken part. I cracked the upper gear of the Front Drive Assembly that engages the torque tube. I had a hard landing on grass and a tail blade must have caught on the grass just as my OS50 was spooling down. Because as my heli touched down I heard a cracking/thunk sound. When I spooled up I heard a strange clicking sound. Upon initial inspection I did not find anything out of the ordinary. But, closer inspection revealed the broken part.

I was able to get a replacement part. The replacement gear is white whereas my original gear was black. From what I have been told was that because my Aeolus 50 3D was one of the first ones in the United States the gears, with the exception of the main gear and autorotation gear, were regular hard plastic (black). Now all the gears are made of the delrin type (white).

I guess that the gears are one of the common parts to break in a torque tube design no matter what brand of heli.

Happy flying everyone

The gears on mine are white I think the black is brittle I would be sure to get the white ones in the future.
