A bit stumped & it was all building so well.
Now I am up to page 22 the fan cover (not started yet).

my problem: the entire white plastic main gear assembly, one-way and locking collar, all rocks visibly on the shaft.

I can grab it from both sides and teeter it .. the whole shaft or gear doesn't go up and down, no play there, but since the main gear/oneway teeters, and makes a noise when doing so, i can't really do much about the mesh with the horizontal pinion -- I can't really minimise gear noise if the gear rattles a bit on the shaft. If it teeters like this, the mesh is going to vary from none .. to too much.

is this just the way it is? does your main gear move at all if you grab either side and see-saw it? I can even grab one side of mine and "rattle" it.

edit: Ok I took it out and the shaft and just had a closer look. The shaft fits too easily inside the sleeve, and the entire thing can be rocked back and forth, which is seen as a visible gap opening up either side, translates to +/- 1mm lateral motion at the outer edge of the gear. Now just gotta know if this is how they all are..
