It looks like Ill be ordering v-bar, and the head soon for my logo 500 and Im very excited

But...

Do I need to buy the entire head? I already have a metal swash and blade grips.

Will the spindle, grips, dampers, and washers work for the head? Do I need the v-bar mainshafts? It seems that all I would need to buy is the yolk, hub, and the swash driver.

Also, should I keep my setup the same, or should I back down a pinion size?

Part number mik4052 is what you need. If you have a 500 3d then you use your existing main shaft, spindle, swash, grips and bearings. Dampners are harded for vbar.

The other option is mik4041 which is a full head and includes grips and spindle.

Fergus

Egg, be aware that mik4052 is not available through RH. That one comes with the older style swash driver.

I use an Outrage 550 FBL head on my L500. The heli flies beautifully.

Man, this is a mikado, I'm going to use the genuine stuff

I think Ill just build my own head. Do the levers come with bearings? Will the regular "Y" links work on it?

I know Mikado plastic is pretty strong, but at 2300 rpm, I prefer metal grips.

I like the bling look anyway

I am going to play with ya I maidened my VBAR L500 last Monday. The heli is flying as if it were on rail. I pushed it really hard for the last few days and have not even seen any bad behavior yet

Have 15 flights on it so far and love every single flight. My FBL TRex 600 is going to sit for a while.

Since you are doing upgrade, you may want to throw in an open tail case like this so the heli look better

Egg, I looked at all the parts that you'd have to buy individually and you'd be paying $6 more than buying the whole head and you wouldn't get the spare set of bearings, grips, and spindle.

No such thing as a car too fast, a girl too pretty, or too many spare heli parts .

True lol. The spindle and bearings the same off of a logo 400 except for the bolt size on the grips, right?

Yes just looked at your location. This option is not stocked by readyheli. It does Not come with the old swash driver as stated above and it is the cheapest option.

You could still get mik4041 as already stated. This includes all head parts above the swashplate including grips, bearings and spindle. It does not include a swash. If you go with this option you will have a spare spindle, grips and bearings. That is all that differs between the two options.

Fergus

The 400 spindle is part # 2343, and is aluminum. The 500 is # 2347, and is steel. Otherwise they are the same. Bearings (thrust and radial) are the same. Dampening scheme is different however. The 500 uses three o-rings. The 400 uses two different sized o-rings and a spacer. Blade grips are the same except bolt hole size.

Hi Egg,

I upgraded my Logo 500 to VBar this season too.

I ordered the complete head so that if I ever sell it, I'll be able to put the flybar head on it and keep the VBar electronics. The cost difference was negligible.

You're going to love it. I flew RC pattern when I was a kid and now have gone to helis later in life. All the while I was flying, I always dreamt of having a perfectly honest flying machine that did exactly what I tell it. Now with VBar, I have it. It is the best money that I ever spent in this hobby.

Keep 'em flying.

Egg,

You are probably better off just doing it the right way, that way you dont have to worry about something failing. Thats what they made the upgrade for!

Just my .02 cents
