I just wanted to let you guys know how well the Horizon customer support treated me. i sent in an ar7000 rx that had a broken antannae and the old firmware. it was an older unit and didn't have the added shrink tubing at the base of the antannae. I sent a detailed note about what i wanted done and then i didn't hear from then for a week and a half. i started to enquire about the rx with them and a day later (today) i get home with an email response and a brand new ar7000 in my mailbox free of charge. i guess service this good is so rare i had to post about it.

By far the best service from any of the radio manufactures out there.

They are a little slow, but they do treat you the best!

They just replaced a gyro free of charge for me, took a month and a half to get it back, but it was worth the wait.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

JR Service is extremely fast with getting stuff in and out, my guess is that a simple phone call would answer your questions.

I wish I could claim the same experience. I purchased a Quark 33amp ESC for a T-Rex 450 (through an authorized Horizon Dealer) and it smoked instantly. I was told to contact Horizon and Horizon told me to contact the manufacturer. I tried but unfortunately they had closed all their US offices. Called Horizon back and they told me they couldn't do a thing for me. They told me that it was out of the hands of the "Authorized Dealer" as well.

Totally weird. I suppose I could have shoved it back on the poor "Authorized Horizon Dealer" since they are really good guys but then they would have had to eat it.

I can actually see where this is the responsibility of the manufacturer since it is an electronic component that I had to solder connectors on and install but it sucked that they had pulled up stakes and vanished.

Weird situation. It did surprise me that Horizon totally washed their hands of it and wouldn't help one bit - not even to help me locate the manufacturer for return.

Consequently, Horizon lo longer carries this product.

sounds like horizon had as bad or, probably worse, experience with this particular manufacturer than you did(due to volume). nobody's perfect but i'm surprised they didn't hook you up as well.

I agree that Horizon does have the best service. All my radio gear is Futaba but my 4 strokes are Saitos so they go through Horizon. I've had an ongoing problem with a Futaba module and what they have been charging to replace the plastic case on the module is just not right given it's their design flaw that keeps causing the little tabs top break off. They covered it once under warranty then charged me nearly $50 3 weeks later when it broke again. Horizon on the other hand, has always gone through my Saito's and made them right.

My latest Futaba service wasn't so good either. I sent a 601/9251 combo in. Quote, "The servo motor is burned out and is not cost effective to repair". Yet, they replaced the upper case, servo wire and another metal piece before charging me and sending it back.

Horizon service has always been good with quite a fast turnaround.

Yea it was strange. And to be honest, my brother had an awesome experience with Horizon service on an Alpha trainer that locked out and crashed after the fuel tank leaked all over the reciever. They replaced everything. And the plane had the crap flown out of it.

It's just wierd that they thew me under the bus on that ESC.

I had some bad experiences with Quark 33 ESC's. The first one I had would not program and the second went up in smoke. Quark rep replaced the first one and the 2nd I tossed in the trash. A friend of mine and I were some of the early adopters of this ESC so neither of them came from Horizon. I can't blame Horizon for distancing themselves from the manufacture of that piece of junk ESC.
