Hey guys,

I saw this video the other day and it kinda got me interested. I think I may try it if it is, indeed, real. What do you guys think?

in the video all he did was basically dis-assemble a laser and put it back together without the case so that he looks smart. In the end he replaced the laser case with a lighter case............So no, its not legitimate. go buy a blue laser and if it doesnt light things on fire then this is fake.

The Hercules one looks good and you can buy the 10X multiplier for it as well. Not really sure what you would use it for or why you would spend $1,400.00 for it, but it sure is cool. http://www.laserglow.com/index.php?hercules

I read where you can't import lasers greater than 5mw. I believe this was in response to some jokers pointing their green lasers at aircraft. I found a site with some really good prices on 500- 1000mw lasers but they won't ship them to the USA.
Is this accurate information?
Thanks

China baby...

China will sell you anything, I bought a 15 mw laser from online and they shipped it no questions. It was advertised as being able to pop a balloon but nah I tried, It would feel a little warm on the hand but I don't think it was a true 15 mw.

At the lake though (7 miles by 13 miles), we could hit a buoy at night as see it light up brilliant (7 miles). I think I paid about 100 bucks. Well worth it.

As a note of caution if you get one use common sense even if it is for star gazing and pointing stuff out to friends. Think about there being the possibility of an airplane any time you shine it at the sky, in other words, adults only. You could also really screw up a dog as they don't know enough to look away.

I have seen a few mods, to make the 5mw ones way more powerful. I guess to set things a fire. I just use matches.

This is the one to get, not too sure if I would spend that much to light things on fire but it might be fun to play with for a while.

What a stupid idea, these things are not toys and I would hate to see people using these on the streets, there are already enough idiots out there shining these things.

I dunno about you guys but I want to keep my vision perfect.

300mW lasers were readily available for about £100 until early this year after some plonkers pointed them at planes. 2 or 3 pilots duly complained and they became outlawed. However, what amazes me is that the quality of the collimating lense on these is not that good (I have 2), with the result that the beam becomes about 10 foot wide at a kilometre. This means that the lazer beam that the pilots would have experienced would be at a very low and safe level and would not even dazzle; I've tried it. Laser and media hype, duh
