I currently have a TP 1010c with the 210 balancer and I love the charger. However, I recently purchased 2 of the new Hyperion 4s 4000 mAh 25c batts for my rex 600 (running 8s in series) and I can't get the TP to charge over 8.25 amps. I don't intend on charging the new packs at 5c like they claim that you can do but I would like to charge them at 2c like I do on all my other batteries (Zippy 3s 2200 mAh 30c packs).

The question that I have is, what charger is the "creme of the crop" so to speak. I want to be able to charge 2 - 4s packs as an 8s pack at 2c and balance at the same time with all the bells and whistles. I did a little research and the Hyperion EOS 0720i seems like a good charger but I am not fully versed in what makes a charger a good charger or a great charger (I usually fly nitro)!!

Somebody please enlighten me!!

Thanks!!

The biggest charger out there I know of is the iCharger 208B+. It is an 8s charger good for 350W with an input voltage range of 4.5-32V, very powerful and very handy. Though if you really want to charge fast, you need to get a pair of chargers and charge each of the 4s packs individually. Each 208B+ could then charge a 4000 pack at 5C.

The CellPro 10S can charge 2x 4S4000 packs - i don't know what is the max charge rate though. I know I can charge a 6S3300 at 10 amps with my CellPro 10S.

I wouldn't sell your 1010, just add another charger and split the batteries up as TJinGuy suggested.

I always thought (and was told) that when you run 2 batteries in series, you should always charge and balance together as a total pack, not as 2 individual packs.

Am I incorrect with that statement?

as long as you have a good charger that makes each cell 4.2V then it wouldn't matter. Each cell should be getting charged and analyzed individually.

^^^^ What he said

As long as the packs are fully charged, it doesn't matter how or by who charged them.

I have 4 FMA 10S Chargers. They are the only ones I will use. They are incredible.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

I bought a new Hyperion at Ircha.

Very nice charger, balance adapter pcbs where very inexpensive.

I got the 6s smaller model, but many friends had the largest dual

chargers hyperion makes and they were very nice and effecient.

Some models also feature the A.C. option, so no power supply is

needed.

Ive been running big-balancer chargers myself (one TP and one Schulze) but thinking of switching to more powerful 6-7s dual chargers for more Wattage Aiming at 2 x Hyperion EOS720i 250W each which can be connected with a data cable for sync charging. Not that sync is needed tbh, just makes charging easier Also, power from mains is nice, no more power supply carrying ! 500W should be able to put in 10amps roughly in 6s cells, which is still 2C for 5Ah packs but at a really nice price imo.

Just to point out, a pair of iChagrer 208B+ chargers will give you 700W of total power, 8s charging, awesome balance boards and all for less money the 720s

Price is nearly the same for both in Europe (around 140 euros each). And although the iCharger can't be powered by mains, certainly looks like a serious competitor
Is the iCharger balancing circuit really that good? No word about it's tolerances in the specs.

the Hyperion DUO is a 360 watt charger and will let you do two 4s 4000 packs at up to 3C, one on each side (that is if my math is right 3.7v x 4 =14.8v x 12 amp = 177.6 watts)

I have both the cellpro 10's and the Hyperion duo both are great however I tend to use the Hyperion much more.

At some point I would like to get my hands on an i-charger 208b

I put the fun in dysFUNctional :)
