How many have actually experienced problems with the one way? Since I am still in the build phase, I am going to be installing a 600N one way from the start. I would rather be safe then risk my new heli to an $8 bearing.

Yea I wold just rather play it safe. I'm not complaining about it. I know that every new heli has a few "growing pains", and the Velocity 50 seems to have far fewer than most 1st release helis. So far my build is going well (although slower than I normally build due to my work schedule).

oneway bearing

Mine locked up before it ever flew. I could not unlock it by hand. I was going to give it a chance until then. I wouldn't risk it now. Plus, the sooner you get it replaced the easier it will be warranty-wise, even though HD is great and would probably take care of you at any point.

I know for sure this is a big priority for the guys at Outrage..

The great thing is the speed at which they are replacing the parts, there have been several other companies that have released a new kit - and almost all have some issues - but some other companies have been known to just blame the builder, and leave them on their own..

Everyone who has contacted Helidirect has been quickly taken care of.

And although its annoying to have a build issue, I personally think its well worth it once you get it in the air and find out it flips like a 500, tracks like a .90 but has a lower cost than most .50 sized machines

HD

Helidirects service is a perfect reason not to mess with it. It couldn't be any easier to get it fixed for free. Have a little patience and wait for a good part. My question is whether the 550 one-way can take the power of the .50 engines. I notice it has fewer needle rollers than the one that came with the velocity...Is that contact area and power handling correlated?

yes think as it like car brakes, larger rotor disc equals more stopping power...same with the one-way, but i think the O550 will do just fine!

Edit:

oh and im sure the Outrage 550 produces just as much power as the Velocity on 6S and even more than it on 8,10,12S....

Took my Velocity for its first test drives yesterday. After some minor tweaking on the tail and tuning the engine, I was able to get a few flights on her.

After my 3rd flight, I noticed that the one way was locked up. With the one way issues that many have been experiencing, I built mine with the 600N one way bearing. But it some how still locked up on me. I think the problem resides with the sleeve that sits in the one way.

Hey gary,

Pretty darn weird your align one-way locked up too.
I remembered that the 1st few batches of the rex600n had one-way issues.
Check if your bearing is the HF1216, that's what im using now.

So far after the swap, im having great luck with the one-way.

Thanx!

Well the 600N one way locked after all 3 flights this past Sun. I truly believe the inner sleeve is machined with the wrong tolerances, allowing the roller bearings to come out too far in the one way.

I called HD and spoke with Jody. My replacement 550 complete auto hub/sleeve is on its way. HD's service is definitely top notch. Hopefully I will have the new auto hub by the weekend so I can continue bashing this awesome heli around.

I received a complete auto hub/one way/sleeve (for the Outrage 550) from HeliDirect this past Saturday. First thing I noticed is that the one way bearing is totally different from the stock one way bearing. It appears to have a plstic/metal cage retaining the larger rollers in the one way. It is even different than the 600N one way that I built my Velocity with.

Before it stormed on us at the field on Sunday, I was able to get good flight in. I am happy to say that it didn't lock and still feels smooth as butter when I rotate the main gear by hand. Hopefully this will solve the issues that many of us have experienced with the stock one ways.

Other than the one way, I have not had any other problems. The more I fly my Velocity, the more I am enjoying her. Although it only weighs 7 lbs 5 oz, it handles the wind very well. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend so I can wring her out some more.
