Energy = mass x velocity squared does not matter in this discussion.
As someone explained it is a shame we give our adoration to people who's biggest accomplishment is putting a ball through a hoop better than someone else. I wish our kids were taught in school to think instead of cramming mostly useless info into their brains to pass a test. Sorry to go slightly off subject.

Devon, while I accept there are many theories as to the acceleration or deceleration of the universe, my reference to E=MC2 is support to my statement that you (being a person) cannot reach the speed of light. For an object with mass to reach the speed of light its mass would become infinate (hence the impossibility). Glad to hear your theories.

Dude don't you watch Star Trek? The whole point of the antimatter injection into the warp nacelles is to develop an antimatter warp field balancing out the mass of the spacecraft. Once the the harmonically balanced zero mass point is achieved one only needs a beam of light to propel oneself to incredible multiples of light speed.

If NASA would just get on board with what Gene Roddenberry taught us back in 1966 we'd by flyin all over the galaxy by now.

As for me I've lost 60 pounds. At the current rate I should achieve 0 mass by April next year. Once I get there I'm gonna shove a flashlight up my a$$ and get the frak out of this taco stand.

There is no end to space, but there are multiple dimensional spaces which have no end.

I apologize Jonty I went back and re-read you're post did not put 2 and 2 together and realize you were using the equation to back the theory you put forth. I am so glad someone posted Gene's theory I was to busy with hormonal pursuits in high school to pay attention

No worries I can concur, unfortunately my youth was spend chasing skirt rather than physics. Luckily the complexities of flybarless and turbines have forced me to reacquaint!

Maybe if we started at the beginning of space we would find the end? Oh, does anyone know where that is?

Dang Mark, you're the reason this board is entertaining. Oh, I've lost 32 pounds myself. Wait for me, I'm coming with you! I'll use my own flashlight if you don't mind.

Trying to fly out of space would be like trying to walk off of earth is how I like to look at it.

No center really because generally everything is moving away from each other. Actually everything is accelerating away from each other. So you could pick any point in space and rewind and it would appear everything is coming towards you. That's all about relativity.

Damn I love physics/astronomy. Another good book that talks about the universe, speed of light, relativity, quantum mechanics is "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene. Great book and puts things in laymen terms.

I LOVE MY EVO!!!

One thing I have found interesting when talking to people about this, is most of them think of space in a flat plane. They cant grasp the idea that space extends out infinitely in ALL directions.
