Well I thought I had checked everything twice. I went up for a test flight to trim everything out well into a tank of fuel I thought I herd a vibration, all the fuel was just about gone so I sat it down and took it to the bench to check everything out. I was amazed of what I was about to see has anyone every seen this before? Look at the cross member it has snapped in the middle and is gone ! so I look at the other side it's still there but has snapped in the middle ....

There was some vibration that caused the rods to crack. When you rebuild make sure to check everything to find the source of the vibration.

I'll bet I do.

There is nothing per se that assures that each end of the cage (the blue pieces) is in exactly the same plane as the other when you tighten up the assembly. It's REALLY easy on the Evo/SSZ-III assembly to twist one end of the cage relative to the other when you tighten up the set screws. If this happens, it'll place a twisting load on the cross members, and the weakest link in those cross members is at the taper at the ball. Layer on top of that flight loads imparted across that relatively wide assembly, and you can see how the failure would have occured. Do check for any vibration and make darn sure each half of the cage is dead nuts in the same plane as the other when you lock it down. I doubt the problem will recur is this is NOT a common failure point.
