So I ordered several bearing sets from Boca Bearing for my OS .91HZ. When they arrived I noticed that the bearing retainer in the rear bearing is chrome steel and not plastic. Should I use these? I am inclined to return and order from RC-Bearing where they have pictured a plastic retainer.

Any comments or experience would be appreciated. This motor is getting a complete rebuild and I would hate to damage it due to a failuer of the steel retainer.

Thanks,
Chris

The steel cage won't fail, but it will more suceptible to rust than the plastic one. Corrosion is what kill most of the rear bearings. They don't feel as smooth either. On the plus side, when they corrode, you will hear them a mile away!

I now only use RC-Bearings.

The plastic ones have a higher speed rating.
